IND vs AUS / Gill gets the captaincy of the Indian ODI team, Virat and Rohit are also part of the squad

IND vs AUS: The Indian cricket team will depart for Australia after the two-match Test series against the West Indies. The tour will run from October 19 to November 8, 2025, and will include three ODIs and five T20Is. Rohit and Virat Kohli return to the ODI team for the ODI series

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have returned to the ODI team. Both veteran players will be playing for the first time since the IPL 2025. They last played for India in the 2025 Champions Trophy and will now be seen in the blue jersey after almost seven months. Shubman Gill appointed ODI captain

BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced the team for the Australia tour at a press conference. The biggest change is that Shubman Gill has been appointed captain in the ODI format as well. Gill will now lead the Indian team in both Tests and ODIs. Rohit Sharma has joined the team as a batsman for the first time since December 2021.

Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya Rested

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the ODI series as he is currently playing in the Test series against the West Indies. Rishabh Pant is out of the tour due to an injury sustained during the England tour. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was also unavailable for selection due to injury.

Shreyas Iyer appointed vice-captain

Shreyas Iyer, who has been trying to make a comeback for a long time, has been appointed vice-captain of the ODI team. Mohammed Siraj will lead the bowling department, while Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana are also part of the squad. Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel have been selected for the spin bowling department.

The Indian team will play the first ODI on October 19, while the second and third ODIs will be held on October 23 and 25. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team in the T20 series, and Shubman Gill will be the vice-captain.
