IND vs NZ: On the basis of Shubman Gill's double century, Team India defeated New Zealand by 12 runs in the first match of the 3-match ODI series. For New Zealand, Michael Bracewell played a blistering inning of 140 off 78 balls, but he could not win his team. With this win, the hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in the series. Batting after winning the toss, India scored 349 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs in Hyderabad on Wednesday. On behalf of the team, Gill played the best innings of his ODI career. She got out after scoring 208 runs in 149 balls.

Gill shared half-century partnerships with Hardik Pandya (28 runs), Suryakumar Yadav (31 runs) and Rohit Sharma. Gill added 74 runs for the fifth wicket with Pandya, 65 runs for the fourth wicket with Surya and 60 runs for the first wicket with Rohit.

In response, the New Zealand team could only manage 337 runs for 49.2 wickets in 50 overs. Michael Bracewell scored his second century of ODI career. While Mitchell Santner (57 runs) scored the third fifty. There was a 162-run partnership between these two. At one stage New Zealand had lost 6 wickets at 131. It seemed that Team India would win by a big margin, but Bracewell-Santner brought New Zealand into the match by sharing a century partnership for the 7th wicket. Then in the slug over, Mohammad Siraj took two wickets in the 46th over to put India ahead. The excitement didn't end here. The Kiwis needed 20 runs in the last over. While India needed one wicket. In such a situation, on the second ball of the 49th over, Shardul Thakur got Michael Bracewell LBW and gave India the victory.

First: Conway was caught by Kuldeep on the fourth ball of the sixth over. He was dismissed by Siraj.

Second: Shardul Thakur got Finn Allen caught by Shahbaz in the direction of square leg on the 5th ball of the 13th over.

Third: Kuldeep Yadav bowled Henry Nicholls in the 16th over.

Fourth: On the fourth ball of the 18th over, Kuldeep lbw Daryl Mitchell.

Fifth: Mohammad Shami bowled Glenn Phillips on the third ball of the 25th over.

Sixth: On the fourth ball of the 29th over, Mohammad Siraj got Tom Latham caught by Sundar in the mid-wicket.

Seventh: In the 46th over, Siraj got Santner caught by Sarya.

Eighth: Siraj bowled Shipley on the last ball of the 46th over.

Gill youngest player to score double century, India 349/8

Gill played the best innings of his ODI career for India. He was dismissed in the 50th over after scoring 208 runs in 149 balls. He has become the 5th Indian player to score a double century in ODIs. Rohit Sharma, Ishaan Kishan, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar have done this before him. Talking about the batsmen around the world, the double century has come for the 10th time in ODIs. Apart from India, the remaining 3 centuries were scored by players from different countries.

Gill has also become the youngest player in the world to score a double century. He has done this feat at the age of 23 years and 132 days. Earlier this record was in the name of Ishaan Kishan.
