Sports / Kohli walks despite ball not touching his bat off Amir's bowling

Virat Kohli is one of the fiercest players on the cricket field. You've often seen him celebrate every wicket and every run he scores with ferocious intensity, and the Indian captain showed the also showed the world his softer side during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup in England.

After earning widespread praise for telling the crowd to stop jeering Australia  batsman Steve Smith during the India-Australia match last week, Kohli once again displayed terrific sportsmanship on Sunday during the high-octane India versus Pakistan clash.

The skipper looked in fine touch and amassed 77 valuable runs, studded with seven boundaries. Kohli looked set to secure his first century of the World Cup, but bizarrely walked back to the pavillion after apparently edging a Mohammad Amir bouncer.

The incident came in the 48th over when Amir bowled a short-pitched delivery and Kohli tried to pull it, but made no contact. The Pakistani team appealed, but umpire Marais Erasmus did not raise his finger. Kohli, though, felt he got a knick and adjudged himself out.

However, the television replays showed that Kohli had infact got no contact on the ball whatsoever! 

The Ultra-Edge confirmed that was no deviation and there was clearly a lot of gap between the bat and the ball as it passed the batsman. There was a sound but then Kohli indicated it later to have come off the click in his bat's handle.

India finished its innings with 336 runs on the board. Rohit Sharma led the scoring for th Indians with a mammoth knock of 140, while Amir was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with three wickets.
