Eng vs Aus: The spectacle and confrontation that has been an old history in the Ashes series, finally got to be seen in the Lord's Test. A run out on the final day of the Test led to a brawl in the historic Long Room at Lord's, that too between Australian batsman Usman Khawaja and a Lord's member. The situation reached so far that the officials had to come to the rescue, due to which the matter could cool down.

The whole drama began in the first session of the final day of the Lord's Test, when England batsman Jonny Bairstow was run-out by Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey. Bairstow came out of the crease after leaving the ball. Carey, showing wisdom, hit the ball on the stump. The third umpire also gave Bairstow out.

Bairstow's run out heated the atmosphere

Lord's atmosphere heated up after Australia ran out Bairstow in this way. The fans started raising slogans against the Australian team. Even the members of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) started taking an aggressive stand. Lord's Cricket Ground is a part of MCC. Generally the members of MCC behave with tehzeeb during any test and give equal respect to the players of both the teams present in the match.

MCC member clashed with Khawaja

This did not happen this time. After the end of the first session, when the Australian team was returning to the pavilion, passing through the long room of Lord's, it got to hear fierce taunts from the MCC members. Many members used bad words about the players and in such a situation Australian batsman Usman Khawaja stopped and replied back to a member. Seeing the increasing confrontation between the two, the security guards came and separated them.

Abused the players

After Australia's victory, Usman Khawaja called the incident humiliating and criticized the behavior of the MCC members. Khawaja told that many members used dirty words for the players. Australia captain Pat Cummins also said that many members showed aggressive attitude against his team and also abused.

MCC apologizes, 3 suspended

However, Cummins also told that an MCC official went to his team shortly after and apologized for the behavior of his members. The MCC also issued a statement apologizing to the Australian team and assured action against members who break the tradition and rules of the Long Room. According to a late night British media report, the MCC has suspended the three accused members till the completion of the investigation.
