New Delhi : Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani's JV has won the digital streaming rights of the Indian Premier League. Mukesh Ambani's media venture has achieved this success by beating giants like Walt Disney Company to Sony Group Corp. This has been claimed in a Bloomberg report. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not officially announced yet.

According to media reports, the joint venture between Mukesh Ambani's Reliance and Paramount Global, which has jointly acquired the online rights of IPL, is named Viacom18 Media. The Financial Times has reported that Viacom18 Media bought the rights for approximately $2.6 billion, while the New York Times reported the deal was worth about $3 billion. However, Disney acquired the television broadcast rights of the matches for approximately $3 billion.

Big success for Ambani: The victory of 5 years of online streaming of IPL is being seen as a big victory for Mukesh Ambani. Ambani's company will now present a new challenge not only for India but also for global media and online streaming giants.

IPL is popular in many countries of the world including India. Currently the only live streaming platform of IPL in India is Disney Plus Hostar.
