New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a big announcement amid the criticism being made by the state government regarding the purchase of Corona vaccine. In his address to the country, PM Modi said that today it has been decided that the Government of India will also bear the responsibility of 25 percent of the work related to vaccination with the states.

He said that this system will be implemented in the coming two weeks. In these two weeks, the central and state governments together will make necessary preparations according to the new guidelines.

The Prime Minister said, "It is expected that from June 21, the central government will give free vaccines to the state governments for people above the age of 18 years. No state government will have to spend anything on vaccines.

He announced, "25 percent of the vaccines being made in the country can be taken directly by the private sector hospitals, this system will continue. Private hospitals will be able to charge a maximum service fee of Rs 150 for a single dose after the fixed price of the vaccine. The task of monitoring it will be with the state governments only.

PM Modi said that no state government of the country will have to spend anything on the vaccine. Till now crores of people of the country have got free vaccine. Now people of 18 years of age will also join it. Only the Government of India will provide free vaccine to all the countrymen.

Governments of several opposition-ruled states, including Delhi and Punjab, have raised the issue of vaccine shortage and difficulties in procurement of vaccines at the state level several times in recent times.

The Prime Minister called upon the people to avoid rumors related to anti-corona vaccination and help in increasing awareness about vaccination. In his address to the nation, Modi also said that the vaccination coverage in the country was 60 per cent in 2014, but in his last five-six years it was increased to 90 per cent.
