New Delhi: Doctors at a private hospital in Delhi have achieved great success and claimed to have removed 106 fibroids (non-cancerous tumors) from a woman's body while saving her uterus. Did an extraordinary job.

The condition of the woman was very critical

A statement issued by the hospital said that a 29-year-old woman was admitted to BLK Max Super Specialty Hospital in February. The hospital said that the condition of the woman was very critical and was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state after heavy menstrual flow with severe pain. During that time his hemoglobin level had also dropped to 7.2 milligrams per deciliter.

The whole stomach of the woman was filled with fibroids

"The ultrasound revealed that her entire abdomen was filled with multiple fibroids the size of her uterus," the hospital said. Uterine fibroids are usually non-cancerous tumors of the uterus that affect women of reproductive age. They are also called leiomyomas or myomas. These can be present without any symptoms, but sometimes they can cause heavy bleeding, anemia, abdominal pain or infertility during periods.

The woman did not want the uterus to be removed

According to a doctor, the process had become more challenging due to the high number of fibroids. Her stomach looked like eight months pregnant. Along with this, the woman also did not want to have her uterus removed, so instead of hysterectomy, we opted for myomectomy (removal of fibroids).

Operation lasted for four and a half hours

Dinesh Kansal, director and HOD of the gynecology and obstetrics department at the hospital said that we planned the surgery systematically. First brought her hemoglobin level to 12 mg/dL and then started the operation process. In an operation that lasted about four and a half hours, 106 fibroids were removed. At least 14 fibroids were very large, ranging in size between 5 and 8 cm. Whereas the size of the rest ranged from 0.5 to 5 cm.

In 2015 also 48 fibroids were removed from surgery

The woman had a similar condition in the year 2015 as well and had also lost her sister due to the same disease, the statement said. The patient had a similar surgery at the hospital in 2015 and 48 fibroids of varying sizes were removed.
