According to the report of InsideSport, a senior BCCI official said, 'We need to prepare for the T20 World Cup-2024 from now itself. Hardik is a perfect fit for this role. The selectors will meet before the next T20 series and officially announce Hardik as India's captain.

Announcement possible before Sri Lanka series

It has been claimed in the report that before the series against Sri Lanka in January next year, an official announcement will be made to give the captaincy to Hardik in place of Rohit. If this happens, in the series against Sri Lanka in January 2023, Hardik will be made the captain in T20. 3-3 ODIs and series will be played between India and Sri Lanka. Rohit will continue to handle the captaincy in ODI and Test formats.
