IND vs NZ: Shubman Gill scored the third century of his ODI career against New Zealand and on seeing it he converted it into a double century. Gill played a tremendous innings in Hyderabad and scored the 10th double century in ODI history. This is the seventh double century from an Indian cricketer. He touched the double century mark in style. Gill hit three consecutive sixes and got his name registered in history.

On the basis of Shubman Gill's double century, India has given New Zealand a target of 350 runs in the first ODI. Batting first after winning the toss, the team scored 349 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs.

Shubman Gill broke Ishaan's record

When opener Shubman Gill came out to bat in this match, he was 23 years 132 days old. That is, by scoring a double century at this stage of age, he became the youngest batsman to touch this milestone. Due to this amazing inning, Gill also broke the record of Ishaan Kishan who scored a double century against Bangladesh on 10 December 2022. Ishaan had made a record of crossing this milestone at the youngest age by hitting this double century in Chattogram at the age of 24 years 145 days. Earlier this record was in the name of current Indian captain Rohit Sharma who scored a double century against Australia in 2013 at the age of 26 years 186 days.

Gill played the best innings of his ODI career. She was dismissed in the 50th over after scoring 208 runs in 149 balls. He has become the 5th Indian player to score a double century in ODIs. Before him only Rohit Sharma, Ishaan Kishan, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar could do this. Talking about the batsmen around the world, the double century has come for the 10th time in ODIs. Of these, maximum 5 double centuries have been scored by Indian batsmen. Gill shared half-century partnerships with Hardik Pandya (28 runs), Suryakumar Yadav (31 runs) and Rohit Sharma. Gill added 74 runs for the fifth wicket with Pandya, 65 runs for the fourth wicket with Surya and 60 runs for the first wicket with Rohit.
