On Friday, at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Indian team won the toss and decided to bat, but the Indian captain who came to open could not prove this decision right. England spinner Rehan Ahmed dismissed Rajat Patidar. This was India's fourth wicket in the first innings. Patidar, playing his debut test, scored 32 runs. His innings included three fours.

Second session

The second session was entirely in the name of Team India. The team scored 122 runs losing one wicket in this session. Yashasvi completed his century in this session. By the end of the second session, India's score stood at 225/3.

Hartley dismissed Iyer

Shreyas Iyer was out after scoring 27 runs. He was sent to the pavilion by Tom Hartley. On the fourth ball of the 51st over, the ball hit the edge of Iyer's bat and went into the gloves of wicketkeeper Ben Fox.
