Bihar Political Crisis: JDU leader Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will take oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister today. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan at 2 pm. Sources say that more ministers will be included in the two-member cabinet later. Kumar will take oath as the chief minister for the eighth time, leaving the BJP-led NDA. He will lead a coalition of seven parties. This alliance has the support of an independent.

According to sources, apart from JDU, there will be representatives of RJD and Congress in the new cabinet. Left parties are likely to extend outside support to the new government to maintain its independent identity.

Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to the Governor

Earlier on Tuesday, 9 August, the political developments in Patna kept changing rapidly. Nitish Kumar (71-years) met the governor twice a day. For the first time, he submitted his resignation as the chief minister leading the NDA alliance, while for the second time, Tejashwi, along with other allies of the opposition Grand Alliance, went to the Raj Bhavan and submitted a list of 164 MLAs' support to the governor. Let us tell you that at present there are 242 members in the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the magic figure of getting majority is 122.

Significantly, the JD(U) and the BJP have been tense for weeks over several issues including caste census, population control and Agneepath scheme and retaining Nitish Kumar's former confidante RCP Singh as a Union cabinet minister.

On Tuesday morning, all the MPs and MLAs of this regional party decided to leave the NDA and join hands with the Grand Alliance in a meeting held at the Chief Minister's residence. JDU broke away from the Grand Alliance five years ago i.e. in 2017.

BJP targets Nitish

The BJP accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of insulting and betraying the mandate of the people, blaming his prime ministerial ambitions for the JD(U)'s decision to pull out of the NDA.

BJP leaders, using "Paltu Ram", first used by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav for Kumar, dismissed claims that his party had made any attempt to break the JD(U). BJP Union Minister Ashwini Choubey said that despite having less seats, we made him (Kumar) the Chief Minister. He has cheated twice. He is full of ego.

Nitish left NDA twice

Nitish Kumar left the NDA for the first time in 2013 after becoming the prime ministerial candidate of Narendra Modi's alliance and returned to the NDA camp in 2017 from the RJD-Congress Mahagathbandhan.

This is the formula of the new government

But the question that is arising now is that what will be the formula of the cabinet. Which party will have how many ministers? Meanwhile, the sources said that the cabinet can be formed on the same formula of the Grand Alliance in 2015. Under this, 35 ministers can be made, out of which 16 can be from RJD and 13 from JDU. Whereas one can become minister of 1 we and 2 Congress. The Speaker of the Assembly can be made of RJD.

Nitish will take oath for the eighth time

Leaving the BJP-led NDA, Nitish will take oath as the chief minister for the eighth time.
