Cricket | Indian cricket team players will now have to go through 'Yo-Yo Test' and 'Dexa Scan'. Whoever fails in this test will not get a place in Team India. This decision has been taken regarding the preparations for the World Cup tournament.

The BCCI had called a meeting last Sunday in which many important decisions were taken regarding the fitness of the players. Under which now yo-yo test and dexa scan have now been made important for the players.

In view of the defeat in the last T20 World Cup, disappointing performance in the Asia Cup and the performance of the Indian team in the ODI series in Bangladesh, it has now been decided to implement this fitness test. In the year 2022, many players of Team India were injured. The names of KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami are also included in these players.

That's why BBCI has decided not to compromise on the fitness of these players and in view of this, the decision of Yo-Yo test and Dexa scan was taken in the review meeting of Team India.

Although this rule is not new. Players had to go through this test earlier also but it was removed keeping in mind their mental health during the Corona epidemic.

Now once again it has been made necessary. In such a situation, the question arises that what is this yo-yo test and dexa test? And what can be the effect of this on the Indian cricket team.

What is yoyo test?

The Yo-Yo Test in Indian cricket has been a topic of discussion for the last several years. This is called Intermittent Recovery Test (Yo-Yo Test). It is like a beep test in a way, in which players have to run between two sets. The distance of those sets is about 20 meters which is equal to one pitch.

To pass this test, the player has to run from the first set to the second set and come back. After completing the distance of both the sets, it is considered as a shuttle. After each shuttle, the running time is reduced but its distance is not reduced.

This test is started from the fifth level and continues till the 23rd level. Players need to score at least 16.5 out of 23 to pass this test.

This test was started in the year 1990 by Danish football physiologist Dr. Jens Bangsbo. Shankar Basu, the then strength and conditioning coach in the Indian cricket team, started the rule of making it mandatory to do this test for the first time in the year 2017.

Many players have failed in the test

Many big players have failed in the yo-yo test before. These players include players like Yuvraj Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, Mohammed Shami, Sanju Samson and Varun Chakraborty. Before the Corona epidemic, it has been made necessary to pass the yo-yo test for IPL as well. If you understand in simple language, then all the players who are in the central contract of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, they will have to pass the yo-yo test before playing in the team. If he does not pass then he will not be able to play IPL also.

What is dexa scan?

Dexa Scan is an international standard for knowing the structure and position of the bones of the human body. This is also a kind of fitness test. Under which a person's body fat, bone strength, water content are checked.

Dexa scan is a kind of fitness test in which a person's body fat, bone strength, amount of water in the body is checked. It was implemented in the Indian cricket team a few years back. However, it was stopped in view of some technical problems and the Corona epidemic.

But in the last few years, there have been complaints of joint pain and bone problems in Indian players. In view of which this Dexa scan was once again added to the rule.

A Dexa scan is usually a ten-minute test that measures body fat and muscle mass. With the help of this test, how strong the bones of the body are, it is checked and along with this, information about calcium and other minerals present in the bones is also available.
