Cricket Australia has officially announced the squads for the upcoming tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh. A total of 24 players have been selected to participate in these two tours, which will consist of nine white-ball matches in total. Along with the squad announcement, the board provided a significant update regarding seven Australian players who are currently representing their respective franchises in IPL 2026. The tour of Pakistan is scheduled to commence on May 30, while the Bangladesh leg will begin on June 9. The selection committee has opted for a blend of experienced campaigners and promising new talent to navigate these subcontinental challenges.
Update on 7 Australian Players Participating in IPL 2026
Before diving into the full 24-member squad details, it's essential to note the status of the seven players currently active in IPL 2026. Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has been rested and won't participate in either the Pakistan or Bangladesh tours. His SRH teammate, Travis Head, will skip the Pakistan tour but is set to join the national squad for the Bangladesh leg. On top of that, Mitchell Starc of Delhi Capitals and Josh Hazlewood of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will also be absent from both the Pakistan and Bangladesh tours. Meanwhile, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, and Ben Dwarshuis, who are currently playing for Punjab Kings, are scheduled to join the Australian team specifically for the Bangladesh tour.
Pakistan Tour: ODI Series and New Inclusions
The Australian tour of Pakistan features a three-match ODI series, while the matches are scheduled for May 30, June 2, and June 4, with venues set in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Mitchell Marsh has been appointed to lead the side for this series. A notable inclusion in the squad is Ollie Peake, who impressed during the Under-19 World Cup by scoring 234 runs at an exceptional average of 78. Another fresh face in the lineup is all-rounder Liam Scott. While Ollie Peake will only be part of the Pakistan tour, Liam Scott will continue with the team for the ODI series in Bangladesh as well.
Bangladesh Tour: ODI and T20I Series Schedule
The tour of Bangladesh will begin on June 9 and includes both ODI and T20I series. The three ODIs are scheduled for June 9, 11, and 14 in Dhaka. Following the ODIs, a three-match T20I series will take place on June 17, 19, and 21 in Chattogram. A major talking point for the T20I squad is the exclusion of veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. In his absence, the selectors have included Spencer Johnson and Aaron Hardie in the T20 setup to bolster the bowling and all-round departments.
