The aircraft involved in the accident was a Bahamas-registered Cessna 402. According to the Bahamas Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority, the flight had departed from the Lynden Pindling International Airport in the capital city of Nassau. Its intended destination was San Andros, while however, the journey ended in disaster when the plane crashed into the sea near North Andros, an area located just west of the capital. Initial reports regarding survivors were conflicting. Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis had initially stated that one person had survived the impact. However, during a subsequent press conference, the Prime Minister sadly confirmed that the individual had succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total death toll to 10. Second Incident Involving Flamingo Air

According to the Minister, the pilot reported a technical problem shortly after takeoff and made the decision to turn the aircraft back toward Nassau, while while the plane managed to land safely and the passengers were successfully evacuated, the aircraft caught fire after the landing.
