A tragic and mysterious incident has emerged from Bangladesh where four members of a Hindu family were found dead under suspicious circumstances in the city of Rangpur. The bodies of all four victims were recovered from their residence, sending shockwaves through the local community. The deceased have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty, a retired school teacher, his wife Pritilata, their daughter Agami, and their 12 year old son Priyam. As of now, the identity of the attackers and the motive behind this heinous crime remain unknown, while the local police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Discovery of the Bodies in Rangpur

The incident took place in the Daspara (also known as Machuapara) area of Rangpur city. According to reports, the bodies of the retired teacher, his wife, and their two children were discovered inside their locked house late Saturday night. Najmul Kader, the Officer in Charge of the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station, stated that the police had to break into the locked house to recover the bodies. The recovery operation took place around 11:30 PM on Saturday night after relatives raised an alarm regarding the family's sudden disappearance and lack of communication.

Profile of the Deceased Family

The victims were well known members of the local community. The head of the family, Ganapati Chakraborty, aged 65, was a respected retired teacher from the Rangpur Zilla School. He had officially retired from his service on December 31 of the previous year. Following his retirement, he had started practicing as a homeopathic physician. His wife, Pritilata Chakraborty, was 50 years old. Their daughter, Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, aged 23, had recently completed her postgraduate degree in English this year. The youngest victim, Priyam Chakraborty, was only 12 years old and was a student in Class 5. The family had recently constructed a new house in the Daspara area where they were residing.

Timeline of the Incident

Relatives of the family revealed that they had lost contact with the victims since Thursday. Pooja Chakraborty, the younger sister of Pritilata, mentioned that she last spoke to her sister on Thursday afternoon. Reports indicate that the mobile phones of all family members were switched off starting from Thursday night. Concerned by the silence, relatives reached the Daspara residence on Saturday night, while upon finding the main gate locked and all the lights inside the house turned off, they alerted the police. It was only after the police broke the locks and entered the premises that the gruesome discovery was made.

Police Investigation and Forensic Findings

The Rangpur Metropolitan CID and forensic teams have arrived at the scene to collect evidence and begin a formal inquiry. Subir Chowdhury, the person in charge of the Rangpur Metropolitan CID, provided specific details regarding the location of the bodies within the house, while according to the forensic team, the bodies of the mother, Pritilata, and the daughter, Agami, were found on the stairs. The body of Ganapati Chakraborty was discovered on the roof of the house, while the body of the young son, Priyam, was found hidden under a bed. The police are currently examining the crime scene for any signs of struggle or forced entry, although the house was found locked from the outside.

Statements from Relatives

The family members are in a state of deep shock and can't fathom why anyone would target the Chakrabortys. Pooja Chakraborty expressed her grief, stating that she couldn't understand who would kill her sister and her entire family or what the motive could be. She described her brother in law, Ganapati, as a very good person who had no known enemies. Similarly, Soma Chakraborty, Ganapati's niece, corroborated that she last spoke to her uncle on Thursday afternoon, while she rushed to the spot on Saturday night upon hearing the news and confirmed seeing the bodies of her uncle, aunt, and cousins. The local authorities are looking into all possible angles, including personal enmity or a targeted attack, to solve the mystery behind these four deaths.
