A major accident took place in Ganjbasoda of Vidisha district, 120 km from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh (MP). After the fall of a child in a well in Lal Pathar village, the well collapsed due to the crowd of people who came to retrieve it, due to which more than 30 people fell inside. After the ongoing rescue operation by the team of NDRF, SDRF and local administration, about 16 people have been evacuated so far. 13 people are still missing, while three have died and their bodies have been recovered.
Immediately after the accident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan sent teams of NDRF, SDRF to Bhopal for rescue work. Also, the Chief Minister spoke to all the top officials and asked them to expedite the relief and rescue work. Vidisha district in-charge minister Vishwas Sarang also reached the spot after leaving Bhopal on the instructions of the Chief Minister and continued monitoring the relief and rescue work.
Know how this accident happened?
Actually, a 14-year-old boy had fallen into a well at 6:00 pm in Lal Pathar village of Ganjbasoda. There was water from 10 to 15 feet in the well about 30 feet deep. After the fall of the child, a crowd of people reached around the well to save him. The well was covered with a cemented slab on top. Due to the weight of the crowd, suddenly the slab broke and the well collapsed. Due to this, more than 30 people fell in the well. As soon as the information about the incident was received, all the officials of the administration reached the spot and started relief and rescue work through JCB and other machines. On the other hand, around 11 o'clock in the night, a tractor engaged in relief work also fell from the ground.
The CM made the control room at the wedding venue itself
State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was present on the occasion of the wedding of his adopted daughters in Vidisha, so he made the wedding venue a control room. From there, while monitoring the whole matter, he sent all the officers including IG, Commissioner, Collector, SP there. Giving more details about the incident, the Chief Minister tweeted, "Some people have been reported to have fallen into a well under Ganjbasoda police station in Vidisha district. SDM is present at the spot. District Collector and SP are also reaching on my instructions. The administration team is actively engaged in the rescue work. I have spoken to CS, DGP and SDRF DG. SDRF team has left for the spot with the necessary equipment for the rescue operation. The commissioner and IG have also left. I am continuously taking stock of the situation and am in live contact.
