The political slugfest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition over the issue of regime change has intensified Importantly in the national political arena. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a sharp attack on opposition leaders, categorically stating that India isn't Bangladesh. Union Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju mounted a massive counter-offensive against the opposition's call for regime change, challenging opposition leaders by remarking that those talking about regime change should open their ears and listen carefully that India isn't Bangladesh. He made it crystal clear that India's democratic governance is determined through elections by the mandate of the people.

Attack on Opposition and Activists

Taking to the social media platform X on Saturday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly criticized opposition parties and activists for attempting to destabilize democratic institutions under the guise of protests. He strongly emphasized that India isn't Bangladesh, stating that the youth of India are focused on building the nation rather than breaking it. Continuing his aggressive stance, he wrote in his social media post that those who have come to bring about regime change should open their ears and listen that India isn't Bangladesh. He stated that the youth of India aren't fools; they will build India and will never break India.

The Union Minister further added in his statement that all genuine Indian youth are winning medals in various fields, advancing in skill development, driving innovation, moving forward in startups, progressing rapidly in technology, and becoming true cultural icons of the country. These sharp remarks by Kiren Rijiju came in the wake of recent statements made by Senior Advocate Prashant Ghosh, AISA President Neha Bora, and Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera, who had mentioned regime change during discussions surrounding protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. These protests are reportedly linked to alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision of voter rolls.

Special Intensive Revision and Student Activists

According to reports, all these protests and demonstrations are directly connected to the alleged discrepancies found in the special intensive revision of voter rolls. During these protests, student activists compared the entire sequence of events to the historic Gen-Z student-led uprising in neighboring Bangladesh. It was this very uprising and political turmoil that eventually led to the ouster of then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, forcing her to step down and leave the country. Ever since such comparisons were made, a massive political storm has erupted across the nation.

In New Delhi, opposition political groups and various civil society groups carried out a grand tricolor march as a key part of their ongoing protests and agitation, while senior BJP leaders strongly criticized this tricolor march as well. BJP leaders openly criticized the opposition, stating that the national flag was being used as a political tool to spread unrest and chaos in the country. The cycle of political rhetoric on this matter continues to escalate, with both sides keeping up their fierce verbal attacks against each other.

Statements by BJP President and Defense Minister

Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Nabin very clearly explained the fundamental difference between this protest march and the official national pride campaigns of the government, such as the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. He stated that opposition parties had never supported the official Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, but instead chose to use the national flag during street protests to serve their own political interests. On the other hand, Union Defense Minister Rajनाथ Singh directly and severely accused the main opposition Congress party and its allies of attempting to instigate political turmoil in India similar to the situation witnessed in Bangladesh.

Addressing an official press conference in the capital city of Lucknow, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated that continuous and malicious attempts are being made to use the innocent and energetic youth of the country as pawns in disruptive and anarchist politics. Following the Defense Minister's statement, political excitement and tension grew even further. The war of words and political sparring between the BJP and the Congress party has reached its absolute peak, with leaders from both factions launching sharp attacks against one another in an effort to strengthen their respective political grounds.

Clash Between Pradeep Bhandari and P Chidambaram

Bharatiya Janata Party National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari strongly criticized senior Congress leader P Chidambaram for openly defending the use of the term regime change. BJP Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari launched a sharp allegation, stating that drawing inspiration from and citing examples of neighboring Bangladesh is neither democratic in any form nor can it ever be acceptable to the country, while he asserted that such a mindset completely unmasks the alleged hidden and anarchist political agenda of the opposition before the general public of the nation.

Hitting back strongly at these attacks and severe criticisms from the BJP, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram posted a response on the social media platform X. P Chidambaram wrote in his post asking why the Bharatiya Janata Party is getting so worked up with feigned anger over the use of the term regime change and why it's reacting with such outrage. He argued further that in any healthy and vibrant democracy, regime change is a completely normal and natural process, while thus, this ideological and verbal conflict between the two political parties continues to deepen continuously.
