The announcement in this regard was officially made by Pakistan's Ministry of Economic Affairs on Friday. Looking back at history, this marks the first time since the year 1953 that Pakistan will return to this prestigious position.

While the country navigates through deep economic turmoil, its survival remains closely tied to international loans. 4 billion dollar Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).

Dependence on IMF Financial Programs

Both of these financial programs hold immense significance for the stabilization of Pakistan's economy, while the 7 billion dollar EFF is primarily aimed at addressing Pakistan's critical balance of payments needs and assisting the government in implementing necessary structural economic reforms. On the other hand, the RSF provides long-term financial assistance to help the country combat climate-related vulnerabilities and build long-term economic resilience against environmental shocks.

2 billion dollars from the IMF. However, the disbursement of this potential funding is strictly contingent upon the formal approval of the IMF Executive Board. This prospective payout surfaced following a mutual consensus reached between IMF officials and the Pakistani administration during recent reviews of both active financial programs. Ultimately, even as Pakistan continues to navigate its own domestic economic fragility and massive debt obligations, it's slated to assume the leadership of the world's premier financial institutions in 2027.
