The re-evaluation process for CBSE Class 12 answer sheets appears to be falling victim to technical glitches once again. Although the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had announced that the application portal would be operational from June 1, the website remains in maintenance mode even as the afternoon of June 1 passes. This delay has Notably increased the anxiety of students and parents who were waiting to apply for the re-evaluation of their marks.

Persistent Technical Failures and Student Concerns

The administrative arrangements of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have come under scrutiny as students and parents face mounting difficulties. Despite the board's claims of improving the system, the situation doesn't seem to be returning to normalcy. The latest issue involves the re-evaluation process for Class 12 answer sheets. CBSE had claimed that the website would be ready and announced the commencement of the application portal from June 1. However, as the day progressed, the portal continued to display a maintenance message, leaving many students worried about their academic future and the transparency of the process.

Rescheduling of the Re-evaluation Timeline

It's important to note that the re-evaluation process was originally scheduled to begin much later. Initially, the process for Class 12 answer sheet re-evaluation was set to start from June 29. This timeline was discussed following the controversy surrounding scanned answer sheets, after which Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made an announcement regarding the matter. However, CBSE later issued a new order, advancing the date to June 1. The board had stated that the decision to start the application portal on June 1 was taken to ensure a transparent and error-free process. Despite this proactive rescheduling, the technical failure on the launch day has raised questions about the board's preparedness.

Previous Struggles with Scanned Answer Sheets

This isn't the first time students have faced hurdles with the CBSE digital interface this year. Earlier, students encountered numerous problems while trying to obtain scanned copies of their Class 12 answer sheets. CBSE had opened the application portal for scanned copies on May 19, with a deadline set for May 22. However, the portal remained non-functional for the entire first day. Consequently, CBSE extended the deadline to May 23. Even on the second day, the portal was down in the morning and only became operational after 2 PM. During this brief window, students continued to face significant issues, particularly with the payment gateway, preventing many from completing their applications.

Quality Issues and Ministry Intervention

Beyond the portal crashes, students who managed to receive their scanned copies reported several discrepancies. Complaints included changes in the answer sheets, blurry scanned images that were unreadable, and in some cases, missing pages from the answer scripts. These issues forced students to repeatedly reach out to the board for resolutions. The technical instability was so severe that CBSE had to extend the application dates multiple times. Eventually, the Union Ministry of Education acknowledged these problems and assured students of necessary assistance. This year, CBSE has implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM), a digital evaluation system, which was intended to streamline the process but has seemingly been plagued by these technical setbacks. The current delay in the re-evaluation portal is seen as a continuation of these systemic struggles, leaving the student community in a state of uncertainty.
