While the protest site at Jantar Mantar saw a temporary clearance by the authorities on Monday evening, demonstrators began regrouping at the location late into the night. Reports indicate that the police didn't intervene during this late-night assembly, maintaining a stance that peaceful protesters wouldn't be obstructed. However, the administration has issued a stern warning that any recurrence of violence or disruption will be met with strict legal action.
Political Dialogue and the Stand of CJP Leadership
Amidst the ongoing demonstrations, senior leaders of the CJP held a meeting with Union Minister JP Nadda to discuss their grievances. Following this interaction, a spokesperson for the CJP stated that the government has provided assurances regarding the consideration of their demands. Despite this development, the internal sentiment among the protesters remains defiant. Abhijit Dipke, speaking to the gathered crowd during the night, declared a shift in their strategy. He asserted that there would be no further formal talks initiated by the party with the government, while dipke emphasized that if the government wishes to engage in any dialogue, its representatives must come directly to the protest site at Jantar Mantar to speak with the people.

As the protesters have once again established their stage at Jantar Mantar, the Delhi Police has responded by Notably increasing the security apparatus in the vicinity. While the roads leading directly to Jantar Mantar remain open for the time being, the routes connecting the protest site to the Parliament House have been heavily fortified. The police administration harbors concerns that the protesters might attempt another march toward Parliament today. Adding to the complexity of the situation, several opposition leaders are expected to arrive at Jantar Mantar to show solidarity with the CJP. Consequently, the police remain on high alert, prepared to handle any situation that may arise during the day.
Legal Action and Casualties from Monday's Violence
The Delhi Police has initiated rigorous legal action following the incidents of stone-pelting, vehicle vandalism, and general violence during Monday's CJP protest. Multiple FIRs have been registered concerning the assaults on police personnel and the injuries sustained by them. Authorities are currently utilizing CCTV footage to identify the miscreants who turned the protest violent, while so far, the police have detained 70 people in connection with the violence and the protest. The scale of the unrest is reflected in the casualty figures, with more than 118 personnel from the Delhi Police and paramilitary forces injured during the attacks by rioters on Monday evening. This number includes 10 high-ranking officers, including those of IPS rank. Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar visited the hospital to meet with the injured personnel, emphasizing that the focus is now on identifying those who engaged in stone-pelting under the guise of a peaceful protest.
Sonam Wangchuk Continues Hunger Strike
In a parallel development, activist Sonam Wangchuk has announced that he will continue his hunger strike. Wangchuk stated that his fast will persist until youth leaders are granted permission to meet with Members of Parliament at the Parliament House, or until he's allowed to meet with the MPs himself while at the hospital. He expressed his hope that the government would ensure the accountability of the Education Minister before he considers ending his strike. Wangchuk remarked that he was deeply moved by the patience and tolerance shown by the youth despite provocations. He has appealed to the government and the police to resolve the issue by allowing the students to present their grievances before the Parliament either today or tomorrow, expressing confidence that the young protesters will maintain their composure.
