The national capital witnessed a significant political gathering as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) commenced its protest at the historic Jantar Mantar on Saturday, while following a series of discussions and formal procedures, the Delhi Police officially granted permission for the demonstration to continue until 5 PM. As the news of the permission spread, members and supporters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party began converging at the designated protest site in large numbers. The atmosphere at Jantar Mantar remained charged with slogans as the participants prepared to voice their grievances against the current educational administration and the recurring issues plaguing the national examination system.

Key Participants and Leadership

The protest saw the participation of prominent figures, most notably the social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the demonstration to lend his support to the cause. The movement is being spearheaded by Abhijit Dipke, who had previously announced his intention to lead a massive protest against the recurring issues of paper leaks in national examinations, while abhijit Dipke arrived at the Delhi Airport at 8 AM on Saturday morning, having traveled from Boston, USA. Upon his arrival, he used social media platforms to urge his supporters to gather at Jantar Mantar, shifting the initial plan which involved meeting at the Parliament Street Police Station, while he had earlier stated that he would reach Delhi on Saturday morning to seek permission for the protest against paper leaks.

Demands and Core Issues

The primary objective of this protest by the Cockroach Janta Party is to highlight the systemic failures leading to paper leaks and various irregularities in competitive and board examinations. Specifically, the protesters are raising their voices against the controversies surrounding the NEET paper leak and discrepancies observed in CBSE examinations. A central demand of the protest is the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. Abhijit Dipke emphasized that the accountability for the future of millions of students rests with the ministry, and the current situation necessitates a change in leadership. He had earlier planned to reach the Parliament Street Police Station to seek formal permission, but the process was expedited when police officials met him directly at the airport to discuss the protest.

Security Arrangements and Police Strategy

In response to the protest call, the Delhi Police has implemented a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order. Security has been Notably tightened across a stretch extending from Jantar Mantar to the Delhi Airport. According to official statements, the police decided to grant permission after receiving a proper undertaking from the participating students, ensuring that the protest would remain peaceful, while to manage the crowd and prevent any untoward incidents, approximately 2000 police personnel have been deployed in the New Delhi district alone. The entire area has been strategically divided into 12 zones, with each zone being supervised by an officer of DCP rank. This multi-layered security approach aims to ensure that the protest doesn't escalate into a law-and-order crisis.

Logistics and Public Safety

The Delhi Police has also issued internal communications to all district and unit DCPs, alerting them to the possibility of heavy crowds, potential traffic disruptions, and law-and-order challenges in various parts of the capital. Instructions have been given to all districts, including North, Central, Southeast, and Southwest, to facilitate the movement of students arriving for the protest while ensuring minimal confrontation. The police emphasized that their primary goal is to avoid any direct conflict with the protesters while ensuring that the city's routine isn't severely impacted. Although the police stated that no application for the protest was received until Saturday morning, the permission was eventually granted after Abhijit Dipke met with the officials and provided the necessary assurances for a peaceful demonstration.
