He categorically rejected the notion that he had entered into a "deal" with the government, while he argued that if his objective was merely to strike a compromise or a deal, he could have easily done so from the comfort of an air-conditioned room in Ladakh. He questioned the logic of those who believe he would endure such physical hardship for a pre-planned agreement.
