In a significant escalation of political tension in the national capital, leaders and activists of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gathered at the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi to stage a protest, while the demonstration was organized to demand immediate legal action and the arrest of Swatantra Bhardwaj and other individuals allegedly involved in a violent assault on Sanjay, the father of CJP activist Nishu Azad. The incident, which took place at the historic protest site of Jantar Mantar, has drawn sharp criticism from various political quarters regarding the law and order situation in Delhi.
CJP Leaders Demand Justice for Sanjay
The protest was spearheaded by CJP National Spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka and Chief Spokesperson Sourav Das. Upon arriving at the Parliament Street Police Station, the leaders expressed their deep concern over the safety of their activists and their families. Ashutosh Ranka highlighted that during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar, Sanjay was brutally attacked, resulting in a severe head injury. He pointed out that the violence occurred in a public space, yet the perpetrators have not been brought to justice. Ranka alleged that the attackers are openly boasting about their actions, claiming they intended to kill Sanjay, yet the Delhi Police has remained inactive.
Allegations of Police Inaction and Political Protection
During the protest, Ashutosh Ranka made serious allegations against the Delhi Police, claiming that they're working under the influence of BJP leaders like Kapil Mishra. He stated that despite the clear evidence of an attempt to murder, the police have failed to file appropriate charges or make arrests. Ranka emphasized that it's a shameful day for democracy when individuals who openly admit to violent crimes are allowed to roam free without any legal consequences. The CJP team has stood by Nishu Azad and her father since the first day of the incident and has vowed to continue their struggle until the culprits are charged with attempt to murder and other relevant sections of the law.
Questions Over Law and Order in the Capital
CJP Chief Spokesperson Sourav Das also addressed the media, questioning the effectiveness of the Delhi Police. He mentioned that the police had previously identified more than 2800 serious criminals at Jantar Mantar, yet these individuals continue to operate with impunity. Das questioned why such elements are being given a free hand in the capital. He demanded that the police identify these 2800 criminals and take strict action against those involved in serious offenses. The CJP legal team, along with Sourav Das, Chandra Shekhar Aazad, and Nishu Azad, held a meeting with police officials to discuss the progress of the case and reiterate their demands for justice.
Political Support and Rahul Gandhi's Intervention
The protest saw support from Chandra Shekhar Aazad, President of the Aazad Samaj Party - Kanshi Ram, who arrived at the Parliament Street Police Station to stand in solidarity with the CJP leaders. Plus, the issue gained national attention when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi responded to Nishu Azad's plea for help. Rahul Gandhi reposted Nishu's video, assuring her of his support and questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah about the protection allegedly being provided to the attackers. Gandhi criticized the Delhi Police for their treatment of students and questioned why the person who attacked a Dalit girl's father is still free. He stated that the fight for justice would continue until Nishu and her family receive the protection and legal recourse they deserve.
