In a major and significant administrative action carried out under the ongoing Shuddh Aahar-Milavat Par Vaar campaign, a dedicated team from the food safety department inspected two prominent establishments of Rawat Mishtan Bhandar located in Jaipur, while the inspections were conducted simultaneously at their outlets situated on Ajmer Road and Narayan Singh Circle, where multiple irregularities related to food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance came to light during a thorough examination. Based on the serious violations of health standards observed on the spot, the enforcement team collected three specific food samples for laboratory testing to verify their quality and safety. Plus, nearly 36 varieties of expired and unwholesome food items found across these premises were seized and destroyed immediately to prevent any potential health hazards to the general public.

Severe irregularities found at the Ajmer Road establishment

When the food safety department team inspected the Rawat Mishtan Bhandar outlet on Ajmer Road, they uncovered several alarming violations of food safety guidelines. The most glaring initial flaw was that the packaged sweets being offered for sale lacked essential mandatory labeling, including production packing dates and expiry dates. Such critical omissions pose a direct risk to consumer health and safety. Upon inspecting underneath the bakery counter, the inspecting officials discovered dead cockroaches and flies, exposing an abysastmal lack of basic cleanliness and pest control. Also, heavy filth and accumulated food remnants were observed scattered across the active food preparation area, creating an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and pests.

During the course of the inspection, officials also noticed that popular ready-to-eat items such as Raj Kachori and Dahi Puri were being openly served to customers on printed newspapers, which is a gross violation of standard food safety protocols, while the situation inside the cold storage facility proved even more concerning, as living and dead insects were discovered crawling and lying among stored chocolates. Taking serious note of these multiple grave deficiencies, the food safety department team immediately initiated administrative steps and sternly cautioned the management of the establishment regarding the urgent need to rectify these hazardous conditions.

Unlicensed restaurant operating at Narayan Singh Circle

On the other hand, when the food safety team visited the Rawat Mishtan Bhandar establishment located at Narayan Singh Circle, another major illegal operation was exposed. The investigation revealed that the restaurant operating within the premises was running entirely without a valid food business license. Operating a food establishment of this scale without statutory licensing is a clear violation of the law. Upon thoroughly searching the restaurant kitchen and its storage godowns, the team recovered large quantities of expired ingredients, including pizza toppings, bread, pav, fruit cocktail, baby corn, sauces, and cream.

All of these expired and non-consumable items were actively being used in the preparation of food dishes meant for unsuspecting customers, representing a direct and reckless compromise with public health. What's more, unauthorized activities such as the repackaging of food products and the commercial manufacturing of samosas and kachoris were also found to be taking place without any valid permits. Promptly taking cognizance of these severe and dangerous violations, the food safety department team ordered the immediate shutdown of the restaurant at Narayan Singh Circle and explicitly instructed the operators that the facility must not resume operations until a valid food license is officially obtained.

Department stance, corrective notices, and future outlook

Officials from the food safety department informed the media and public that formal improvement notices are being issued to both establishments regarding all the irregularities discovered during their respective inspections. The department has also delivered a strong message to all other food business operators and sweet manufacturers across the city, advising them to rigorously upgrade their operational practices and strictly adhere to mandated hygiene and food safety standards. Authorities emphasized that no establishment found indulging in adulteration or disregarding food safety laws will be spared, and raids under the Shuddh Aahar-Milavat Par Vaar campaign will continue relentlessly to ensure safe and clean food for the residents of Jaipur.
