Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Madan Rathore has issued a comprehensive clarification regarding his recent controversial statement concerning Pakistan, while the controversy erupted after a video surfaced where Rathore was heard discussing India's stance in a hypothetical conflict between the United States and Pakistan. Addressing the backlash on Friday, Rathore asserted that his remarks were taken out of context and deliberately manipulated to damage his political reputation. He clarified that his discussion was centered around a cricket match scenario rather than an actual military engagement or war, alleging a conspiracy to defame him.

The Context of the Controversy

The incident originated during a program organized by the BJP's Minority Cell at the party headquarters in Jaipur on Thursday. During his address to the gathering, Madan Rathore made a statement that quickly became a flashpoint for political debate. He was initially quoted as saying that if a war were to break out between America and Pakistan, India, being a neighbor, would stand with Pakistan. This particular segment of his speech went viral on social media platforms, leading to widespread condemnation from opposition parties and questions regarding the BJP's stance on national security.

Rathore's Defense and Cricket Analogy

In his clarification, Madan Rathore stated that someone had used a short clip of 8 to 10 seconds to present his views in a wrong way. He emphasized that his words didn't pertain to a war context but were related to cricket. Rathore explained his stance by saying that patriotism is essential. He cited an example that if India plays a cricket match against Pakistan and unfortunately India loses, anyone who celebrates by bursting crackers isn't a patriot. He further added that if the United States were playing against Pakistan, the situation would be different. He expressed that it's unfortunate if his words are being interpreted as a reference to war.

Stance on Pakistan as an Enemy State

Reiterating his position on the neighboring country, the Rajasthan BJP Chief stated that India maintains an enemy-like relationship with Pakistan. He pointed out that Pakistan is a nation that produces terrorists, and Because of this, there is no question of standing with them in a friendly capacity. He urged that his entire speech should be heard to understand the true meaning of his words, rather than relying on truncated video clips designed to create controversy.

Opposition Launches Fierce Attack

The Congress party has taken a sharp aim at the BJP following Rathore's statement. Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra shared the video clip and launched a scathing attack, stating that those who distribute certificates of patriotism have Pakistan in their very veins. Dotasra labeled the individuals involved as traitors and claimed that this alleged love for Pakistan isn't only an insult to the martyrdom of brave soldiers but also to millions of Indians. He described the statement as an act of treason against the nation.

Questions for Central Leadership

Adding to the criticism, Congress leader Shama Mohamed stated that the BJP's affection for a terrorist nation like Pakistan has surfaced once again. She reminded that Pakistan is the same neighboring country that's responsible for the deaths of Indian soldiers and civilians. She raised questions directed at the central leadership, asking if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also stand with Pakistan. Also, she demanded to know what disciplinary action is being taken against Madan Rathore for his remarks, while the political atmosphere in Rajasthan remains heated as both parties continue to trade charges over the issue of national loyalty and diplomatic relations.
