Former Rajasthan Minister Vishvendra Singh has announced his resignation from the Congress party, marking a significant shift in the state's political landscape. This decision comes shortly after Singh opened a front against the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Govind Singh Dotasra. In a detailed social media post, Singh expressed his disillusionment with the party's current functioning and leadership, stating that he would rather choose a path of self-respect than continue under suffocating circumstances.
The Resignation and Social Media Declaration
Vishvendra Singh took to social media to share his decision with his supporters and the public. He wrote that his public life has always been an open book and remains untainted. He emphasized that he has never allowed any stain on his reputation and won't do so in the future, while in his post, he stated, "In such circumstances, it's better to die a death of self-respect than to die of suffocation. My ancestors never compromised on such things, and following in their footsteps, I consider it in my best interest to say goodbye to you.
Allegations Against Govind Singh Dotasra
The resignation follows a period of intense friction between Singh and the PCC Chief. Singh had previously targeted Dotasra with serious allegations. On 30 September, Singh accused Dotasra of involvement in irregularities during the REET examination while he served as the Education Minister. On top of that, Singh alleged that Dotasra misused his power to secure 80 marks each for his son, daughter-in-law, and other relatives in the RAS interviews. Singh had publicly demanded that such corrupt leaders should either resign immediately or be expelled by the Congress high command. He had also urged the state government and the Chief Minister to initiate an investigation into these claims.
Discontent Over Local Body Election Results
The rift widened following the results of the urban local body elections in Bharatpur and Deeg districts, where the Congress party failed to form a single board. Vishvendra Singh held Dotasra, along with Bharatpur District President Dinesh Supa and Deeg District President Rajiv Chaudhary, responsible for this defeat, while he criticized the state president for remaining a silent spectator to the party's decline in these regions. Singh even challenged Dotasra, suggesting that if he ever dared to visit Bharatpur, he would receive a welcome even more memorable than the one given to former PCC Chief Dr. Chandrabhan.
Commitment to Workers and Principles
In his parting message, Singh mentioned that his decisions have always been guided by his faith in Giriraj Maharaj and his own conscience. He expressed anger on behalf of his workers, who he claims are frustrated by the statements of certain petty leaders and the prevailing culture of sycophancy within the party. Singh asserted that if speaking the truth and refusing to support lies is considered a sin, he's prepared to commit that sin repeatedly. He concluded by stating that his life is dedicated to the public and his workers, and he will continue to fight for their interests, as every drop of his blood belongs to the people of his region and the state.
