The Congress-led INDIA opposition alliance has organized a massive mega rally at the historic Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi today. This high-profile demonstration sees the participation of top leaders from twenty-three political parties, including prominent figures like Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee. The primary objective of this grand assembly is to raise a strong voice against alleged irregularities in voter lists and the functioning of the Election Commission of India, while stringent security arrangements have been put in place across the national capital for this event, and huge crowds of people started gathering at the Ramlila Maidan since early morning. DCP Central Rohit Rajbir stated that participants began arriving as early as five-thirty in the morning to take part in the proceedings. To maintain strict surveillance and security, the entire venue and surrounding areas have been covered with two hundred to two hundred and fifty CCTV cameras, while the organizers have also set up a dedicated control room to ensure smooth coordination.
During the build-up to the rally, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party. While heading towards the Ramlila Maidan, Rahul Gandhi remarked that they had appealed to those attending the rally to do some shopping at the local markets to benefit local vendors, but upon reaching Connaught Place, they found that the BJP had forcibly shut down all the shops. He asserted that the entire country is witnessing how the BJP is inflicting financial losses on local shopkeepers, while earlier, Rahul Gandhi had posted a message on social media assuring traders that the rally wouldn't cause them any harm and claiming that the BJP is spreading rumors out of panic. Sharing the route map of the march on social media, Rahul Gandhi had written, let us meet and walk together.
Rahul Gandhi Alleges Vote Theft And EVM Tampering
Providing live updates during the INDIA bloc rally, Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi made a serious allegation, stating that votes were stolen during the two thousand twenty-four general elections. Rahul Gandhi claimed that since two thousand twenty-four, one out of every seven voters' names has been arbitrarily deleted, and this systematic theft has been executed through EVMs and manipulated voter lists. He pointed out that during the two thousand twenty-four polls, the vote share difference between the opposition and the NDA was less than three percent, yet subsequent revisions have resulted in the deletion of thirteen crore forty lakh voters. On top of that, Rahul Gandhi declared with conviction that whatever he says turns out to be true, and asserted that Gyanesh Kumar will go. Supporters of several Left parties also arrived at the New Delhi Railway Station early in the morning, carrying party flags and banners to join the marchers heading towards the venue.
Mamata Banerjee And Akhilesh Yadav Target Election Commission
Addressing the massive gathering, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee alleged that Bengal has fallen victim to a collusion between EVMs and the Election Commission of India, while she made a resolute declaration that they won't accept defeat and will fight back firmly. Mamata Banerjee emphasized that through this deep collusion, the nation's constitution has been looted and the Election Commission has actively assisted the BJP. She claimed that they didn't lose the elections, but rather were deliberately defeated because EVMs were tampered with, democracy was plundered, and the constitution was violated. She further accused Gyanesh Kumar of completely hijacking the electoral process and manipulating vote counting procedures. Mamata Banerjee vowed that they will ensure Gyanesh Kumar is removed from his position.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also launched a fierce attack on the Election Commission, claiming that one lakh twenty-seven thousand votes of Hindus were deleted across Uttar Pradesh alone, with approximately thirty-one thousand votes removed from each assembly constituency. Akhilesh Yadav stated that despite all these obstacles, the people of Kashi gave a double zero to the double-engine government in the MLC elections. He also reiterated his allegation that in the year two thousand twenty-two, the BJP stole votes to form its government in Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav expressed firm confidence that in two thousand twenty-seven, the BJP government will be voted out of Uttar Pradesh, adding that those who commit sins ultimately face total destruction.
Mallikarjun Kharge Slams Central Government Policies
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge declared in his address that Gyanesh Kumar is adopting malicious tactics, and stressed that the opposition isn't afraid of such institutional pressure. Kharge further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have blatantly misused central agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Enforcement, but the opposition won't be cowed down by such heavy-handed tactics. The Congress chief underlined that Indian democracy can only be truly saved if Narendra Modi is removed from power. The rally is scheduled to continue until five in the evening, focusing heavily on the alleged discrepancies in electoral rolls. Rahul Gandhi had earlier appealed to students, civil society groups, and citizens from all walks of life to participate in the rally in large numbers, prompting comprehensive traffic advisories from the Delhi Police.
Opposition Leaders Gather At Kharge Residence Before March
Prior to the Save Vote, Save Country mega rally in Delhi, a massive convergence of top opposition leaders took place at the official residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
