The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has witnessed a sharp escalation as Israeli air strikes in Southern Lebanon claimed the lives of at least 13 people. According to Lebanese state media and health officials, the violence persists despite a ceasefire agreement being in place. The latest wave of aerial bombardments has targeted several residential areas and medical personnel, raising concerns about the total collapse of peace efforts in the region. The situation remains critical as both sides exchange fire, leading to significant casualties and infrastructure damage in Southern Lebanon.

Deadly Strikes in Kfar Dunin and Nabatieh

According to the Lebanese state news agency, a devastating air strike hit a residential house in the Kfar Dunin area on Monday night. The attack resulted in the deaths of six individuals and left seven others injured. The violence continued into Tuesday when another strike in the Nabatieh region targeted Lebanese Civil Defense personnel. Two paramedics, identified as Hussein Jaber and Ahmed Noura, were killed in the line of duty. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that the paramedics were targeted while they were attempting to provide aid to victims of a previous strike. A third rescue worker was also injured in the same incident, highlighting the extreme risks faced by emergency responders in the conflict zone.

Allegations of Targeting Medical Services

The Lebanese Health Ministry has leveled serious accusations against the Israeli military, claiming that medical workers and ambulances are being deliberately targeted. This, the ministry stated, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. Since the beginning of the conflict, a total of 108 health workers and emergency service personnel have been killed. Plus, the ministry claimed that ambulances and health centers have been struck more than 140 times during the ongoing hostilities. While the Israeli military stated it's investigating these specific incidents, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed deep sorrow over the deaths, noting that such attacks severely undermine efforts to restore stability to the region.

Drone Operations and Hezbollah's Retaliation

In a separate incident on Tuesday, an Israeli drone strike in the Tayr Debba area targeted a motorcycle, resulting in the death of a Syrian citizen and injuring his wife. The Israeli military justified the strike by stating they targeted a suspect who allegedly attempted to fire a missile at an Israeli aircraft. Also, three more people were reported killed in another strike in the Jibchit area. On the other hand, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for several retaliatory actions. The group stated it used drones to target Israeli soldiers in the Naqoura, Bayada, and Houla regions of Southern Lebanon. Hezbollah also claimed an attack on an Israeli soldier in the Kibbutz Manara area of northern Israel, though Israeli authorities reported no casualties from these specific incidents.
