In a major breakthrough, the Jaipur police have successfully apprehended Rahul Jha, the 45 year old man accused of the horrific murder of his wife and three daughters. The arrest took place in Sikar after a coordinated search operation that involved tracking the suspect through multiple locations, while the Kardhani police, with the assistance of the Crime Special Team (CST), managed to locate the accused who had been on the run since the discovery of the bodies on Friday morning. The police had earlier announced a reward of 25000 rupees for any information leading to his capture, highlighting the severity of the crime that has sent shockwaves through the city of Jaipur.
Discovery of the Gruesome Crime Scene
The tragic incident came to light on Friday morning around 10 AM when the police received a tip-off about multiple murders in the Kardhani area. Upon arriving at the residence, police officials were met with a chilling scene. They discovered the blood-soaked bodies of 40 year old Geeta Jha and her three daughters. The eldest daughter, Nandini, was 22 years old, followed by 17 year old Radhika and the youngest, 14 year old Girish, who was also known as Gauri. The distribution of the bodies within the house indicated a calculated and violent attack. Geeta Jha's body was found in a room on the first floor, while the bodies of the three daughters were recovered from two different rooms on the ground floor of the house. The police also recovered Rahul Jha's blood-stained clothes from the house, which he had changed before fleeing.
The Method of Murder and Initial Investigation
Preliminary investigations and questioning of the accused have revealed disturbing details about how the murders were carried out. Rahul Jha confessed to being under immense pressure due to heavy financial debts, which he claimed drove him to take this extreme step. The police suspect that the accused initially mixed poison into the food of his wife and daughters to render them unconscious. However, it appears that Rahul Jha wasn't certain if the poison would be fatal. On the morning of the incident, he woke up early and checked on his family members. Fearing that they might survive the poisoning, he took a more violent approach. He picked up a cement slab weighing approximately 10 kg and measuring about 1 and a half feet in size from outside the house. He then used this heavy slab to repeatedly strike his wife and daughters on their heads and faces while they were in a state of unconsciousness. Actions Following the Murders and Escape
What followed the murders was a series of cold and calculated actions by the accused. After ensuring that his wife and daughters were dead, Rahul Jha changed his blood-stained clothes. In a bizarre turn of events, at around 7 AM, he even took milk from the local milkman and prepared tea for his 85 year old father, Laxminath Jha. He then informed his father that he was going out for some work and fled the scene. He left his mobile phone at home in a switched-off state to avoid being tracked through GPS or call records. His escape route took him from Jaipur to the religious town of Khatu Shyam Ji in Sikar district.
The Run and Eventual Arrest in Reengus
Upon reaching Khatu Shyam Ji, Rahul Jha visited the famous temple to offer prayers, a move that stands in stark contrast to the violent crimes he had just committed. After the temple visit, he checked into a local hotel. However, his stay was cut short when he ran out of money. In a desperate attempt to fund his continued flight, he tried to sell his ring to the hotel staff. The hotel management refused to purchase the ring, which forced Rahul to leave the premises. He then moved towards Reengus, while the Crime Special Team (CST) received a tip-off about his presence in the Reengus area. Acting swiftly, the police spotted a man wandering with a handkerchief tied around his face to hide his identity. This man was identified as Rahul Jha and was immediately taken into custody. Following his arrest, he was brought back to Jaipur for further interrogation.
