The state of Rajasthan is currently grappling with an intense heatwave and scorching summer conditions, while the temperature has soared past 42 degrees Celsius, yet the spirit of the devotees of Baba Khatu Shyam remains undeterred. Despite the blistering heat, the footsteps of the faithful show no signs of stopping as they continue their journey to the sacred shrine. On Sunday, coinciding with the weekend, a massive surge of Shyam devotees from across the country descended upon Khatu Dham from the early hours of the morning, while the sight of the devotees' faith was remarkable even in this extreme weather and under the burning sun.

Devotion Amidst Extreme Weather Conditions

Under strict security and on roads that were literally burning due to the heat, people were seen performing 'padyatra' or foot pilgrimages barefoot to reach the court of Baba Khatu Shyam. Even after being completely drenched in sweat, there was no sign of fatigue on the faces of the devotees. Instead, there was only an intense eagerness to catch a single glimpse of their deity. The atmosphere was filled with spiritual fervor that seemed to overshadow the physical discomfort caused by the rising mercury levels.

Administrative Arrangements and Challenges

The pressure of the crowd at the court of Baba Khatu Shyam was so immense that the police administration and the Shri Shyam Mandir Committee had to put in significant effort to maintain order and manage the arrangements. To provide some relief to the devotees standing in long queues, the temple committee has made solid arrangements by installing coolers and fans. However, given the vast gathering of people, these arrangements appeared to be like a drop in the ocean, while the sheer volume of the crowd made it difficult for the cooling systems to provide adequate relief to everyone present.

Important Notice Regarding Temple Closure

In the midst of this, a very important piece of information has emerged for the devotees planning to visit Khatu Dham. According to the Shri Shyam Mandir Committee, the doors of the temple are being temporarily closed due to special 'Sewa-Puja' (service-worship) and the 'Tilak' process of Baba Shyam. This ritualistic procedure requires the temple to be inaccessible to the general public for a specific duration, while the committee has urged devotees to plan their visits accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during this period.

Specific Timings for Closure

The doors of Baba Shyam will remain completely closed for general devotees for a total of 19 hours. The closure will begin from 10:00 PM on the night of May 19 (Tuesday) and will continue until 5:00 PM on the evening of May 20 (Wednesday). During this 19 hour period, no darshan will be allowed as the internal rituals and the special tilak ceremony are performed. The temple will reopen for the public only after the completion of these scheduled activities on Wednesday evening.
