In a significant and surprising diplomatic development regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated in an interview that he wants to bring the war to an end and is fully prepared to keep the front lines of the war as they currently stand. This means that President Zelenskyy is ready to forgo the territories currently under Russian occupation and accept the present reality, even if it leaves Ukraine with roughly 75 percent or more of its original territory.
During an interview with Fox News, when President Zelenskyy was directly asked whether he would accept a peace agreement that freezes the existing situation, under which Ukraine would retain 75 percent or more of its territory, the Ukrainian leader answered in the affirmative by saying yes. The President of Ukraine emphasized that there is an urgent need right now to freeze the situation, and he firmly believes that this is the real and viable path to bringing this devastating war to a close. He formally referred to this proposed approach as a ceasefire.
Expressing optimism regarding diplomatic efforts, Zelenskyy stated that he hopes to see positive outcomes from the meetings held in Russia involving US envoy Steve Witkoff, while also voicing his strong support for direct talks among the leaders of Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow. He shared that his discussions with Witkoff on Tuesday in Oslo, Norway, were meaningful and constructive, reiterating that Ukraine remains fully prepared for diplomacy.
Russia Amasses Massive Arsenal For Extended War
Even as diplomatic conversations stir, Russia is actively gearing up for an extended and intense war against Ukraine. Moscow has been aggressively preparing for fresh offensives by accumulating vast military resources. According to reports, Russia has stockpiled approximately 700 ballistic missiles and over 6,000 attack drones for strikes against Ukraine. On top of that, Moscow is manufacturing roughly 10,000 drones every single month, steadily expanding its massive stockpile of weapons in a strategic move designed to overwhelm and bypass Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
The impact of these military preparations is vividly evident on the ground. Over the past 24 to 48 hours, Russia has unleashed relentless and ferocious airstrikes on Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region. These continuous Russian attacks have triggered massive fires across multiple localities, causing severe destruction and loss of life and property. Prior to these assaults, Russian guided aerial bombs were deployed to strike residential areas, severely damaging numerous homes. In addition, Russian drone and missile strikes specifically targeted the Epicenter shopping center in Dubno. The sheer impact of the strike completely demolished the shopping center, leaving it reduced to rubble and engulfed in massive fires, while meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence officially claimed that they successfully targeted and destroyed a Ukrainian logistics center located in Dubno.
Devastating Strikes On Energy Infrastructure
The scope of destruction in this ongoing war extends far beyond traditional military outposts, with critical energy facilities serving as primary targets for both belligerents. Recently, the Ukrainian military launched a strategic attack on an energy facility situated in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region, while in retaliatory or ongoing operations, recent Russian strikes have completely demolished approximately 15 energy facilities across Ukraine. These vital infrastructure centers were previously responsible for supplying electricity to various diverse regions throughout the country.
At the same time, Ukraine continues to execute targeted counter-offensives against Russian territory. In a recent operation, Ukrainian forces executed a drone attack on the Nikolskoye oil pumping station situated in Russia's Tambov region. The vital pumping station faced continuous drone assaults lasting for several hours. This particular station forms an essential part of the primary oil pipeline network and is heavily involved in the efficient transportation of oil and light petroleum products. Consequently, while diplomatic options are being weighed, the battlefield continues to witness unabated and destructive warfare from both sides.
