In one of the most significant developments in corporate history, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani is pulling out all stops to ensure the monumental success of the upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO) of his telecom and digital arm, Jio Platforms, while poised to become India's largest-ever IPO, the company has initiated a unique grassroots strategy to drive employee participation and maximize the reach of this massive public issue, which aims to raise up to 30,200 crore rupees.
To rally maximum support for this mega IPO, the Reliance Group has reached out to its workforce of approximately 4 लाख 20 हजार employees across all group companies. Amidst these concerted efforts to encourage employees to consider investing in the digital behemoth, a prominent media report has revealed that the Reliance Group credited the salary for the month of October nearly 15 days ahead of the regular schedule. Although the exact official rationale behind disbursing the advance salaries to employees has not been explicitly stated by management, it's widely viewed by market observers as a powerful booster dose to facilitate participation in the public offering.
Encouraging Trading Accounts and Employee Engagement
The campaign initiated by the Reliance Group to inspire its vast employee base is being executed in an exceptionally structured and methodical manner. Company officials and managers are actively interacting with personnel across various departments. Employees are being specifically asked whether they or their family members already possess an active trading account necessary for investing in the stock market, while those individuals who don't currently have access to a trading and Demat account are being proactively encouraged and guided to get their accounts opened immediately so that they can seamlessly apply for the IPO without any logistical hurdles.
According to official data sourced from Bloomberg, the total workforce of Reliance Industries Limited stands at 4 लाख 19 हजार 911 employees. Out of this total headcount, exactly 74 हजार 822 employees are directly on the payroll of Jio. These dedicated Jio employees will be eligible to apply for the IPO under the exclusive employee reservation quota. Meanwhile, millions of other employees working across various other subsidiary and associated companies within the wider Reliance group will have the opportunity to apply under the standard retail investor category.
Exclusive Quotas, Price Band, and 5 Percent Discount for Employees
The highly anticipated IPO of Jio Platforms features special provisions and allocations tailored for specific investor classes. According to the official draft documents and filings submitted by the company, shares worth up to 500 crore rupees have been specifically earmarked and reserved for eligible employees. Plus, these eligible employees will also receive a distinct advantage of a 5 percent discount on the final determined offer price of the shares. In addition to the employee quota, a separate portion consisting of shares worth up to 2,500 crore rupees has been strictly set aside for eligible shareholders of Reliance Industries Limited who fulfill all prescribed eligibility criteria.
IPO Size, Valuation, and Strong Global Investor Interest
Financial market experts and analysts have noted that Jio Platforms' public offering holds the absolute potential to emerge as one of the most monumental and impactful issues in the history of the Indian capital markets. Through this massive public offering, the company has set a firm target of raising up to 30,200 crore rupees. Backed by this colossal financial figure, the total enterprise valuation of Jio Platforms is projected to touch an astronomical level of approximately 10 lakh 30 हजार crore rupees. The company, in consultation with its book-running lead managers, has finalized the price band for the shares in this IPO at 1,065 rupees to 1,119 rupees per equity share.
The public subscription window for this high-profile issue will remain open for bidding from October 21 to October 23, during which both institutional and retail investors can submit their applications. Concurrently, the anchor book dedicated to high-net-worth and institutional investors is scheduled to open on October 19, which is expected to generate massive early momentum. Recent reports indicate that even prior to the official opening of the main issue, Jio has already garnered staggering pre-IPO interest, pulling in over 20 billion dollars in preliminary bids. World-renowned global institutional investors such as Fidelity, Allianz, and Capital Group have also shown immense enthusiasm, setting the stage for a historic blockbuster debut under the visionary leadership of Mukesh Ambani.
