The Muzaffarnagar police have successfully cracked the murder case of a local farmer named Praveen, also known as Parvinder, within a span of 60 hours. The incident, which sent shockwaves through the region, took place in the Ambarpur forest area under the jurisdiction of the Ratanpuri police station on September 27. Following a swift and intensive investigation, the police revealed that the murder wasn't a random act of violence but a cold-blooded conspiracy orchestrated by the victim's own wife, Rekha, and her lover, Vikas.

The Conspiracy and Extramarital Affair

According to the police investigation, Rekha was married to Praveen in the year 2006. During the interrogation, Rekha alleged that her husband was an alcoholic and frequently subjected her to physical abuse. In the years 2018-19, she became acquainted with Vikas, a family friend who worked as a contractor involved in soil filling and earthwork. Over time, their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship. The police stated that Rekha and Vikas wanted to get married and live together, but Praveen became an obstacle after he discovered their affair and strongly opposed it. This led the duo to hatch a plan to eliminate Praveen from their path.

The 10 Lakh Rupee Murder Contract

To execute their plan, Rekha and Vikas decided to hire professional killers. Rekha allegedly promised to pay 10 lakh rupees for the murder of her husband. To arrange this significant amount, she planned to sell a portion of their land. Vikas then contacted two individuals, Raja alias Kala and Kalyan Singh, to carry out the hit. Interestingly, Raja had a personal motive as well; Praveen reportedly owed him approximately 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees, and Raja had been struggling to recover the debt for a long time. Vikas lured Raja and Kalyan Singh by promising them 3 lakh rupees each for the task.

Execution of the Crime

On the fateful day of September 27, Praveen was lured to the Ambarpur forest in the Ratanpuri area. Once he arrived at the secluded spot, Raja and Kalyan Singh confronted him. The police investigation revealed that both the accused took turns to fire at Praveen, while he was shot twice and died on the spot due to the gravity of his injuries. After ensuring he was dead, the killers fled the scene, while upon receiving information about the body, the police arrived, took custody of the remains, and sent them for a post-mortem examination, which later confirmed two bullet wounds as the cause of death.

Police Action and Recoveries

Following the murder, Muzaffarnagar SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma formed several specialized teams to solve the case, including the SP Rural, CO Budhana, Ratanpuri police, SOG, and the Surveillance team. Through technical surveillance and ground intelligence, the teams managed to solve the case in just 60 hours. The police arrested all four accused: Rekha, Vikas, Raja alias Kala, and Kalyan Singh. During the arrests, the police recovered two illegal 315 bore pistols, live and spent cartridges, four mobile phones, a Swift car used in the crime, and the victim's motorcycle. One of the mobile phones was a small device purchased specifically for coordinating the murder conspiracy with a new SIM card. The accused have been booked under BNS sections 103(1), 3(5), and 61(2), along with additional charges under the Arms Act.
