AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi delivered a fiery speech at a massive public meeting in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, launching a scathing attack on both the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing a large gathering, Owaisi appealed to the Muslim community and the general public of Uttar Pradesh to choose a new political alternative. He stated that while Muslims have historically voted for other parties out of compulsion, the upcoming assembly elections would see them voting for the 'Kite' (AIMIM) symbol out of bravery rather than necessity.
End of the Carpet-Laying Era
From the stage, Owaisi declared that the community would no longer lay carpets for other political parties, while instead, he emphasized that they would use their votes and prayers to create their own political leadership. He expressed gratitude to the massive crowd that gathered despite the rain, stating that their presence sent a clear message that the people of Uttar Pradesh have decided to forge their own path. He reiterated that the era of being a mere support base for others is over, and the focus is now on building independent representation.
Targeting Akhilesh Yadav and Jauhar University
During his speech, Owaisi specifically targeted Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, questioning his intentions regarding Jauhar University. Reacting to Yadav's social media posts, Owaisi asked why he didn't regularize Jauhar University under the 1973 law during his tenure as Chief Minister until 2017. He termed the SP's current stance as 'hypocrisy' and a lie intended only to secure votes during election time. Owaisi reminded the audience of the Bihar elections, noting that while Akhilesh Yadav sent his MPs to campaign against AIMIM, the people of Seemanchal rejected that message and successfully established their own Majlis leadership.
Vision for 2029 and Youth Leadership
Owaisi highlighted the role of the youth in the country's future, noting that 65 percent of India's population is young. He announced that AIMIM would field young candidates in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections, while he called for a shift in national leadership, suggesting that by 2029, the country should be led by a young person aged between 35 and 45 years, rather than someone in their 80s. He urged the youth to take charge, stating that the fight is for the future and the political freedom granted by the Constitution.
Condemnation of Violence and Pellet Guns
The AIMIM chief raised serious concerns over the use of 12 bore pellet guns against protesters, specifically mentioning the case of student Sheikh Irshad Mansuri in Jabalpur. He strongly condemned the violence during CAA protests and the police action at Jamia Millia University against students. Owaisi also recalled the period between 2016 and 2019 in Kashmir, where he claimed 140 people were blinded by pellet guns. He demanded strict action against the officials who ordered the use of such weapons against those raising their voices against injustice.
A Call for Unity and Political Identity
Owaisi urged the public to protect their lives and property by remaining united rather than just taking to the streets. He cited the example of farmers, stating that when people stand together, the government is forced to bow down, while responding to allegations of giving 'emotional speeches,' he cited the Preamble and Directive Principles of the Constitution authored by Baba Saheb Ambedkar, which grant every minority the right to establish their own political leadership. He concluded by urging the people to turn out in full force on election day and press the button for the 'Kite' symbol to ensure justice for future generations, educational institutions, and the dignity of the community.
