Jaipur Metro Phase-2: The North-South Corridor Expansion
The newly approved Jaipur Metro corridor will run in a North-South direction, connecting Prahladpura to Todi Mode. Spanning approximately 41 kilometers, this line will link Ambabari to Sitapura, providing a much-needed alternative to road transport in the congested city. The project includes the construction of 36 stations, of which 34 will be elevated and 2 will be underground. This expansion is expected to Importantly reduce travel time and traffic congestion within the Pink City, catering to thousands of daily commuters.
Enhanced Connectivity to Jaipur Airport and Industrial Hubs
A key highlight of the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 is its direct connectivity to the Jaipur International Airport. Plans include the construction of an underground station in the airport area, facilitating smooth travel for air passengers. Plus, the corridor will pass through vital commercial and residential zones, including the Sitapura Industrial Area, VKIA, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital, Rambagh Stadium, and Vidhyadhar Nagar. Officials state that this network will integrate major economic hubs with the city's residential outskirts.
Strategic Route and Station Details
The proposed metro line will feature strategic stops at Todi Mode, Harmada, VKI Road numbers 14, 9, and 5, Vidhyadhar Nagar, Ambabari, Panipech, Collectorate, and Government Hostel. It will further extend to Ashok Marg, SMS Hospital, Narayan Singh Circle, Gandhinagar Station, Gopalpura, Durgapura, and B2 Bypass, reaching Haldi Ghati Gate, Kumbha Marg, and Sitapura before terminating at Prahladpura. This comprehensive coverage is expected to transform the public transport landscape of Jaipur.
HPCL Rajasthan Refinery: A ₹79,459 Crore Industrial Milestone
In addition to the metro expansion, the Cabinet has given the green signal to the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project in Western Rajasthan. Located at Pachpadra in the Balotra district, this mega project is valued at ₹79,459 crore. The refinery is considered a crucial element for the state's industrial advancement, aiming to establish a massive petrochemical hub, while prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Rajasthan on April 21 to officially launch the refinery project from Pachpadra, according to government officials.
Economic Impact and Employment Generation in Marwar
The HPCL Rajasthan Refinery is expected to be a game-changer for the economy of the Marwar region. Beyond fuel production, the project is anticipated to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, while the development of ancillary industries around the refinery will further stimulate local businesses and infrastructure. This project aligns with the national objective of enhancing domestic refining capacity and fostering regional economic balance through large-scale industrial investments.
