Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the outreach session of the G7 Summit held in Evian, France, on Tuesday. The session focused on the critical theme of Building New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity. During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that in today's deeply interconnected world, various facets of security such as energy, food, health, cyber, and economic security are intricately linked with one another. He emphasized that for the progress and prosperity of humanity, the establishment of strong international partnerships isn't just beneficial but mandatory.
Addressing the Global Trust Deficit
The Prime Minister pointed out that the current global environment is marked by uncertainty, where trade and technology are being misused for narrow, self-serving interests. This trend has led to a significant crisis of trust between nations. Reflecting on the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, PM Modi urged the international community to prioritize trust and transparency in all global partnerships. He suggested that without these core values, the foundation of international cooperation remains fragile.
India's Humanity First Approach
Sharing India's vision for international cooperation, Prime Minister Modi stated that India has always been guided by the principle of Humanity First. He explained that this very philosophy lies at the heart of several major Indian-led international initiatives, while these include the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA), Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), and the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign. These initiatives reflect India's commitment to addressing global challenges through collective action and sustainable practices.
A First Responder in Times of Crisis
The Prime Minister noted that India's inclusive approach has consistently positioned the country as a first responder during natural disasters across the globe. He cited specific examples where India provided timely assistance, including the cyclone in Sri Lanka, the earthquake in Afghanistan, the floods in Mozambique, and the hurricane in Jamaica. This proactive support demonstrates India's dedication to the welfare of the global community, regardless of geographical boundaries.
The Mantra of Inclusive Development
Highlighting India's model of inclusive and sustainable development, PM Modi spoke about the mantra of Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay (Welfare of All, Happiness of All). He explained how this guiding principle has played a pivotal role in driving financial inclusion, ensuring health security, establishing digital identities, and fostering technology-based empowerment. On top of that, he emphasized the importance of women-led development as a cornerstone of India's growth strategy.
Redefining International Partnerships
Prime Minister Modi called for a paradigm shift in how international partnerships are perceived. He argued that the world must move beyond the traditional donor-recipient mindset and instead develop relationships based on equal partnership and solidarity. He identified the lack of respect for international laws as a major obstacle to building global solidarity and urged that this issue be addressed with high priority. In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister stressed that to ensure global peace and stability, international partnerships must place dialogue and diplomacy at the very top of their agenda.
