In a major security development in Mumbai, the local police have detained two suspicious individuals from the venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to appear for a high-profile event. The Prime Minister is slated to inaugurate the seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 at approximately 5:45 PM on Tuesday. The security breach was identified during a routine but rigorous check at the event location, leading to immediate action by the security forces and the Mumbai Crime Branch.
Details of the Security Breach and Suspects
The primary suspect has been identified as 24 year old Rohan Parekh. According to the Mumbai Police, Parekh attempted to gain access to the high-security zone by posing as an official from the Prime Minister Office (PMO). Upon closer inspection of his credentials by the security personnel, it was discovered that he was carrying a forged identity card. Parekh wasn't alone; he was accompanied by another individual who claimed to be his personal bodyguard. During the mandatory security screening and frisking process, the police recovered a gun from the possession of the person acting as the bodyguard. The fraudulent nature of their claims and the presence of an unauthorized weapon led to their immediate detention. The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the case and is currently conducting an intensive investigation to determine the motives behind their presence at the venue and the origin of the fake PMO credentials and the firearm.
