Education: Rajasthan to Merge 312 Schools, Teachers to be Transferred: Education Minister Dilawar

The Rajasthan Education Department has announced a significant move to streamline its educational infrastructure and optimize resource utilization. Following the successful merger of 449 schools this year, the department is now preparing to merge an additional 312 schools into nearby institutions in the upcoming academic year. Education Minister Madan Dilawar provided detailed insights into this plan during a press conference on Wednesday, emphasizing the focus on schools with low student enrollment.

Merger of Underperforming Schools

Minister Dilawar stated that the merger process targets 155 higher secondary schools with fewer than 25 students, while On top of that, 157 primary schools with five or fewer students, or even zero enrollment in some cases, have been identified for merger. This decision comes after two years of continuous efforts to boost enrollment in these schools, which unfortunately yielded no significant increase in student numbers. These schools are primarily located in areas where multiple government schools already operate, leading students to often prefer other nearby institutions.

Ensuring Student Convenience

The Education Department is committed to ensuring that students face no inconvenience during the merger process. The Minister clarified that these 312 schools will be merged with the closest possible government schools. The primary objective of this approach is to prevent students. From having to travel long distances to continue their education. A comprehensive survey is currently underway to identify the most suitable schools for these mergers, and the process is expected to be completed by early next year. This strategic move aims to provide quality education and better facilities to students even after the consolidation.

Teacher Transfers and Staffing Pattern

Alongside the school mergers, the Education Minister also announced the initiation of a staffing pattern process and teacher transfers. The department will implement a detailed plan to balance the teacher-student ratio across 18,157 higher secondary schools. Dilawar explained that a survey will assess the actual requirement for teachers. Where there is a shortage, new appointments will be made, or teachers will be transferred from other schools, while conversely, schools with a surplus of teachers will see those educators transferred to institutions where the numbers are low. This process is designed to improve the quality of education and ensure an equitable distribution of teaching staff.

Introduction of Computer Science Curriculum

In a significant step towards modernizing education, Minister Dilawar announced that a dedicated computer instructor would be appointed in schools undergoing the staffing process, while this initiative aims to facilitate the smooth operation of the computer science curriculum, enabling students to acquire essential digital literacy skills. These computer instructors won't only teach computer science to students but. Will also manage all online and digital tasks related to the school. This measure will help connect students in both rural and urban areas of Rajasthan with modern technology, preparing them for future challenges. This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in promoting digital education across the state.
