Reliance Jio has launched new recharge plans for its 4G feature phone users. The company has removed the old plans and introduced a new category called '4G Feature Phone Plans'. This change has been implemented following objections from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). This modification will directly impact users who work with JioPhone or 4G keypad devices. The new planning aims to make pricing and benefits simpler and more transparent for better user understanding.
Strategy Shift Following TRAI Pressure
Jio has modified its plans after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India raised concerns regarding the lack of transparency in device-specific recharge plans. Consequently, the company has updated the entire plan structure. The name of the old JioBharat plans has been changed, and the separate plans previously existing for JioPhone have been completely removed. Now, under the new 4G Feature Phone Plans, all users will receive uniform and clear offers.
Details of New Plans Starting at ₹123
5 GB of daily data, and a total of 300 SMS. For users seeking longer validity, plans are available at ₹234 for 56 days and ₹369 for 84 days, offering the same benefits. 5GB of daily data and unlimited calling. This plan is ideal for users who prefer long-term validity without the hassle of frequent recharges.
Data Add-ons and Discontinued Plans
Jio has also introduced new data add-on plans, allowing users to purchase extra data as per their requirements. These include 2GB of data for ₹26 and 6GB of data for ₹62. On top of that, daily data booster options are provided in the ₹86, ₹122, and ₹182 plans. A notable addition is the ₹21 plan, which is exclusively for those purchasing new 4G feature phones and offers 4 days of validity. Meanwhile, the previously available ₹91 affordable plan has been discontinued, slightly increasing the starting price of the new plans.
With this move, the confusion between separate plans for JioPhone and JioBharat has ended, and a single category of plans is now available for all 4G feature phone users.
