Tata Motors is preparing to revive one of its most iconic nameplates in an all-electric avatar, while the Indian automaker has officially confirmed that the Tata Sierra EV is slated for a market launch in the second quarter of the financial year 2026 27. This means the highly anticipated electric SUV will likely hit the showrooms between July and September of 2026. This confirmation puts an end to months of speculation regarding the launch window, especially as various test mules of the vehicle have been spotted undergoing rigorous testing on Indian roads recently.

Platform and Strategic Positioning

For those seeking longer range and higher performance, a larger 65 kWh battery unit will be available. This larger battery is projected to deliver a real-world driving range of more than 500 km on a single full charge. Plus, the SUV will be available in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations, making it a versatile choice for both city driving and light off-roading.

Advanced Charging and Technology

The Sierra EV will come equipped with modern charging solutions to ensure convenience for owners. It will support DC fast charging, Notably reducing the time spent at charging stations. On top of that, the vehicle will feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, allowing the car to power external appliances or even charge another electric vehicle in emergencies. This pricing will place it in direct competition with other upcoming midsize electric SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Mahindra XEV 9e. While the exterior will feature a closed-off front grille to distinguish it from internal combustion engine models, the interior layout will remain premium and feature-rich.
