Mumbai / 3 arrested for a Bomb Bluff in Mumbai.

Three people were arrested Saturday after a hoax claiming bombs had been placed at three train stations and actor Amitabh Bachchan's whereabouts in the city led to a futile search for hours. an official said. No suspicious materials were found at any of the four locations, a police spokesman said.

“Our main control room received a call around 9:45 pm. Friday. The appellant alleges that the bomb was placed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, at Byculla and Dadar stations, as well as at Amitabh Bachchan's bungalow in Juhu,” the official said. 


“Government railway police teams, railway security forces, bomb detection and destruction teams, dog teams and local police officers flocked to these places and conducted research,” he said. Officials from the Counterterrorism Team and the Rapid Response Team were also involved in the search, the official added. After a few hours, the call was confirmed to be a hoax. 


Police traced the appellant from a cell phone number to the Shil Phata area in the nearby town of Thane. The appellant turned out to be a truck driver from the Marathwada area, the official said. 

Along with him, two other men, his drinking buddies, were also arrested. It is suspected that they were drinking together when the prank call was made. 

 

An FIR has been registered with the Azad Maidan Police Department under the relevant sections of the IPC.
