Donald Trump News / A big conspiracy was hatched against me at the UN… Trump's big allegation

Following the United Nations General Assembly in New York, President Donald Trump alleged "triple sabotage." He said the escalators, teleprompter, and sound system malfunctioned as part of a conspiracy against him. Trump demanded an investigation by the Secretary-General, while the United Nations cited technical glitches as the cause.

Donald Trump News: Following the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump made a sensational allegation. He claimed that a "triple sabotage" plot was hatched against him at the UN Headquarters. Trump demanded an immediate investigation by the UN Secretary-General into three incidents—an escalator malfunction, a teleprompter failure, and a sound problem during a speech.

Trump's allegation: "This was not a coincidence, it was a conspiracy."

Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday, "A shameful incident occurred at the United Nations yesterday—not one, not two, but three mysterious incidents!" He termed these incidents a "triple sabotage" and said the United Nations should be ashamed of it.

First Incident: Escalator Malfunction

According to Trump, as he and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni boarded the escalator leading to the main speech hall, it suddenly stopped. Trump said, "It wasn't a coincidence. Meloni and I were holding on tightly to the handrail, otherwise a major accident could have happened. Those behind this should be arrested." After this incident, the two had to walk up the closed escalator.

Second Incident: Teleprompter Malfunction

While delivering a speech on the General Assembly stage, Trump's teleprompter suddenly went off. He said, "I was standing in front of world leaders and millions of TV viewers, and my teleprompter wasn't working. First the escalator, now the teleprompter—what kind of place is this?" Nevertheless, Trump delivered a 57-minute speech without a teleprompter. The teleprompter was restored after 15 minutes. Trump claimed that his speech was highly praised because "very few people can do this."

Third Incident: Audio Problem

Trump explained that after the speech, he discovered that his voice was completely muffled in the General Assembly Hall, and world leaders had to wear earpieces to hear him. He asked Italian Prime Minister Meloni, "How was it?" Meloni replied, "I didn't hear a single word from you." Trump called it part of a conspiracy, saying, "This can't all be a coincidence."

Trump's Demand: Immediate Investigation and Protection of CCTV Footage

Trump has written to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres demanding an immediate investigation. He specifically asked for the preservation of CCTV footage of the escalator's emergency stop button. Citing a report in The London Times, Trump claimed that UN employees were jokingly talking about shutting down the escalator. He said, "I only received two things from the UN—a faulty escalator and a faulty teleprompter."

UN Response

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric responded to these allegations, saying that the escalator incident was caused by a security system. He explained that a videographer, who was on the escalator ahead of Trump and his wife, was filming backwards. As he reached the top, the escalator's "comb step" safety mechanism activated, stopping the machine. This system is designed to prevent people from becoming trapped or pulled off. Technicians later reset the escalator, and Trump arrived at the speech hall, where he was greeted by Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.

White House Response

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said, "If anyone at the United Nations intentionally stopped the escalator, they should be immediately dismissed and investigated."
