Uttar Pradesh Police recovered the body of 12-year-old Ankit, who was kidnapped from Prayagraj’s Andawa in trans-Ganga vicinity and killed, following a 4-day long search operation at Mirzapur-Koraon border. On August 25, a kidnapper called Ankit’s mom and requested Moolchand to carry ₹30 lakh as ransom for Ankit’s safe return to the Naribari vicinity in trans-Yamuna. The duo confessed to have killed Ankit and dumped his body at the Dramanganj vicinity of Mirzapur district, which borders Prayagraj’s Koraon vicinity. The duo also named Pushpraj and Deepak as their accomplices withinside the case. Police also arrested them in separate raids.


Abhishek Kumar Agarwal, superintendent of police (SP) of Trans-Ganga stated the kidnappers first took Ankit to Deepak’s home in Pachehta village in Koraon and strangled him to die the following day withinside the forest region. They threw the body deep withinside the forest, which can be recovered after more than 4 days, the SP added.


Ankit, the eldest amongst 3 siblings, was a student of class five. He was centred after the accused learnt that his father Mool Chandra had sold one of his properties withinside the village, police stated.
