Maharashtra News: A painful accident took place late on Monday night on the Samruddhi Highway in Thane, Maharashtra. During the construction work on the highway, 15 laborers were crushed to death when the girder launcher of the crane fell, while three others were injured. Still five laborers are said to be buried under the debris. Search rescue operation is going on on the spot. The SP of Thane is also present on the spot along with the rescue team. The SP said that 23 laborers were working at the site of the highway where the accident took place.

According to the Thane Disaster Control Room, at around 1 am, the control room was informed about the incident that the construction work of Samridhi Highway was going on at Satgaon bridge, Saral Ambegaon, Shahapur taluka around 12 o'clock in the night. The part of the ready flyover was being lifted and fitted on the pillar with the help of a crane, when the girder launcher suddenly fell.

Due to the fall of the girder launcher, there was chaos on the spot. Other people present there hurriedly informed the police station and the fire brigade. On receiving the information, the police and fire brigade team started the rescue operation. On getting the information, Thane's SP Rahat himself reached the spot with the rescue team.

5 laborers buried under the debris, rescue operation continues

According to the Thane SP, in the information that has come to the fore so far, 15 people have died, who were laborers and were working. Apart from that, three laborers are injured. The SP also told that five laborers are still buried under the debris in this incident. That's why relief and rescue work is going on. Local police and fire brigade teams are also present on the spot.

Thane SP told that the girder launcher machine is a gantry crane, which is used in bridge construction. This allows precast box girders to be used in highway and high-speed rail bridge construction projects. Late night box girders were being installed with this machine, when suddenly the girder launcher fell down and the laborers got buried.

NDRF team present on the spot

It is said that this incident happened late at night. Two teams of NDRF were deployed for relief and rescue work. Till now 14 bodies have been removed from the spot. At the same time, three people were injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital in Shahpur. The death toll in the accident may also increase. According to the information, some other people are feared to be buried under the debris.

The bus accident took place on July 1, 26 passengers were burnt alive

Actually, a private AC bus was going to Pune carrying passengers from Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal. Suddenly a bus caught fire on the Samruddhi Highway near Buldhana. 26 passengers were burnt alive due to the fire, while only seven passengers could survive. The accident was so terrible that even the burnt bodies were not being recognized.
