IPL 2024 / Again RCB lost even before the tournament! This mistake of auction will cost heavily

IPL 2024: Only two teams have the maximum dominance in the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. In the 16-year history of the league, these two franchises have won the title 10 times in total. Whereas Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore are such teams which have not been able to become champions till date. Bangalore has come close 2-3 times. Despite having some of the best cricketers in world cricket, this team has failed. It should not be surprising if it fails in the 17th season of the league i.e. IPL 2024.

By now you must have known why this is being said. Still, if you have not been paying attention or you have been too busy, then here we will tell you about this reason. This has to do with the same mistakes Bangalore has been making for the last several seasons. That too before the start of the tournament i.e. on the auction table. For the past several years, Bangaloreans have been making this mistake during auctions held in the luxurious hotels of their city. This time it happened in Dubai and there too RCB did not waste the opportunity to make a mistake.

Poor team planning

Whenever Bangalore's failure in the last several seasons is analysed, two things always come to the fore - lack of good bowlers and lack of consistency in selection. The first of these problems is often solved during the auction. Although, Bangalore had performed better on this front in the last two seasons, but before that and this time the franchise disappointed crores of its fans. Before the auction, Bangalore had released fast bowlers like Josh Hazlewood, David Willey, Harshal Patel and experienced spinners like Wanindu Hasaranga. This was shocking in itself.

Still, it was clear that Bangalore would again like to strengthen its bowling options. In the auction, the capable strategists of the franchise waited for a long time and then also bid on Australian legend Pat Cummins. On a total budget of Rs 23-24 crore, this team was ready to spend Rs 20 crore on Cummins. Ultimately that didn't happen, which was probably good.

Those on whom you bet will give deep wounds!

However, after this, the bowlers on which Bangalore spent money have surprised everyone. RCB's home ground, M Chinnaswamy, has often proved to be a nightmare for the bowlers. Due to this, many times Bangalore has been getting some sympathy despite poor bowling. Despite knowing all this, the three fast bowlers on whom Bangalore placed bets in this year's auction have been in the news due to their expensive bowling.

Bangalore surprised everyone by spending Rs 11.50 crore for West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph. Alzarri was released by Gujarat Titans after keeping him for 2 seasons. In both these seasons, Alzarri got a chance to play only 16 matches and took only 14 wickets in his account. The biggest problem is that he consistently spent runs at an economy of more than 9. His performance in the recent T20 series against England was like this – 3/54, 3/39, 0/50.

Along with fast pace, Alzarri also has a good bouncer and yorker but the problem has been consistency. Now, it is not difficult to guess what will happen to him in Chinnaswamy. Apart from this, Bangalore spent Rs 5 crore for young left-arm Indian pacer Yash Dayal. Yash Dayal came into limelight last season for hitting 5 consecutive sixes against Rinku Singh.

Yash Dayal's IPL career is not very long but in 14 matches he has taken 13 wickets at an economy of 10. It is possible that Yash Dayal will perform better for the new team but until that is seen, it will be a loss-making deal.

Estimates may prove wrong but…

Apart from these, RCB also spent Rs 3.50 crore on Tom Curran of England and Lockie Ferguson of New Zealand. In this, Ferguson's IPL record is still better but in the last season he was beaten with an economy of 13. However, compared to how well Tom Curran does in England or other T20 leagues, his performance in the IPL has been very disappointing. Karan, who played only 13 matches in 3 seasons of IPL, has taken only 13 wickets at an economy of 10.84.

All these players can prove everyone's expectations wrong and it is possible that all these deals will be beneficial for Bangalore but at first glance, this team of veterans like Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli seems to be in trouble and one more season. Its fans' dream of 'E Saala Cup Namde' does not seem to be coming true.
