IND vs NZ | The two-match Test series between India and New Zealand is over and now the Indian team will go on a tour of South Africa. The tour will begin with a three-match Test, the first of which will be played at Centurion's SuperSport Park. There has been a dilemma regarding the playing XI of this match, as Shreyas Iyer, who made his Test series debut against New Zealand, is performing well and in such a situation it will not be right to drop him from the team. Iyer was included in the playing XI in place of Ajinkya Rahane in the Mumbai Test. Even in the Test series against South Africa, there are chances of either of them getting a chance. Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has now named the player who should get a chance in the first Test against the Proteas team.

Laxman was asked during a discussion on 'Star Sports' whether Rahane should be picked for the first Test against South Africa. Responding to this, he said, "According to me, Ajinkya Rahane cannot play in the first match. So I will play Shreyas Iyer because the way he batted in the debut match under pressure is very important. Is required. He scored a century and a half-century, so I will give him more chances. If you want to give confidence to a young batsman, then I will definitely give that assurance to Iyer.

In this conversation, a question was also asked about the post of vice-captain of the Test team, to which Laxman said, "Rohit Sharma should be made the vice-captain of the Indian team in the Test format as well. Rahane is not performing well with the bat, so Rohit should be given this role." Regarding Hanuma Vihari, who is currently in South Africa, Laxman said that he will definitely give this batsman a place in the team. He may not find a place in the playing XI of the first Test, but he should definitely find a place in the squad.
