Bollywood Desk: On the occasion of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's birthday, the filmmaker is all set to gift his fans the teaser of his much awaited film, Gangubai Kathiawadi featuring Alia Bhatt in the lead role. The new poster of the film was just released ahead of the teaser launch and it features Alia in a never-seen-before avatar. The gorgeous star is seen clad in white ethnic wear as she comfortably sits upon the throne and reigns supreme as the infamous Mafia queen. The Bhansali Productions handle tweeted the new poster ahead of releasing the teaser of the film. The poster was captioned, "Fiery and feisty, she's ready to reign! Celebrating the man, his vision and 10th directorial, #GangubaiKathiawadi. Teaser out today. In cinemas on 30th July, 2021." The film is based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi's book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai that is about a woman named, Gangubai Kothewali. The film will feature Alia in a role that she has never essayed before and fans of the star have been looking forward to her performance in Bhansali's directorial.
The film reportedly also has cameo performances by Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Huma Qureshi. The film's shoot has been going on since 2019 and as the restrictions of shooting amid pandemic were lifted, Alia resumed work on Bhansali's ambitious project. The film is based on the story of a young girl who falls in the trap of prostitution after she's sold by her lover and it then follows how she ends up reigning supreme as one of the infamous madam of a brothel in Kamathipura. The elaborate sets of the film had been erected in the city for the shoot. The film is now all set to release on July 30, 2021. It will reportedly clash with Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam.
