Design transition will begin after iPhone 17

Although Apple's focus will be on the iPhone 17 Series in 2025, Ross Young's report suggests that significant changes in the design can be seen from 2026. According to Young, Apple is planning three major design changes:

2026: Smaller cutout

With the iPhone 18 Series, Apple will not completely remove the "dynamic island" or punch hole, but may reduce its size. The reason for this is that some Face ID components will still need space above the screen.

2028: Face ID sensors will be under the screen

By this year, Apple plans to advance its technology so much that most of the Face ID sensors will be hidden under the screen. However, a small punch hole for the selfie camera may still remain. This will bring the iPhone design closer to "all-screen".

2030: Completely all-screen iPhone

Ross Young estimates that by 2030, Apple can launch an iPhone that will have no notch, no punch hole, or no visible sensor. That is, both Face ID and the camera will be under the screen — a true "futuristic" design.

A special iPhone may come in 2027

Not only this, some time ago Bloomberg's famous tech journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple could launch a "special edition iPhone" in 2027 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the device. It could have curved edges, ultra-slim bezels and a full-screen design — a glimpse of the future in the present.
