Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds died in a car crash, aged 46, on Saturday. According to a Queensland Police statement, he was driving on Hervey Range Road near the Alice River Bridge when his car left the road and rolled. He was the only person in the car.


Team India went on a tour of Australia in the year 2007-08. A Test match was played in Sydney on this tour. There was an argument between Symonds and Harbhajan on the last day of this match. Symonds alleged that Bhajji had made racist remarks on him. He is called Monkey. Because of this, the name of this dispute came to be called Monkeygate. This matter went a long way. Ricky Ponting, the then captain of Australia, complained about the matter to umpire Steve Buckner and Mark Benson. Not only this, this issue also reached the Sydney Court. However, no decision was passed on this controversy, as there was no evidence that Bhajji had made any remarks.


Symonds played the last match of his international career against Pakistan on 7 May 2009. This T20 match was played in Dubai. Symonds remained in the news due to his alcohol addiction. According to media reports, he was dropped from T20 due to alcohol addiction. It was alleged that Symonds broke the rules related to drinking alcohol.
