BCCI New Rule / BCCI implemented this new rule in domestic cricket- took a big decision

BCCI has implemented a new rule in the domestic season, under which replacement in the playing 11 will be allowed in case of a serious injury in multi-day matches. The injured player will not be able to play further in the match. Replacement will be valid only with the approval of the umpire and match referee.

BCCI New Rule: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to implement an important and new rule for the upcoming domestic season. Under this rule, in case a player leaves the field due to serious injury in multi-day matches, the team will be allowed to replace him in the playing 11. However, if a player is replaced under this rule, he will not be able to participate in that match again. This rule will be applicable especially for multi-day formats like Ranji Trophy.

Reason for implementing the rule

Recently the Indian cricket team completed a tour of England, where the 5-Test series ended in a 2-2 draw. During the fourth Test of this series, Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant was injured while batting. Due to injury, he could not do wicketkeeping in that match. This incident further strengthened the demand to replace the player in the playing 11 in cases of serious injury. Currently, in international cricket, replacement of a player is allowed only in case of concussion (head injury). The BCCI has now decided to implement this rule in domestic cricket, so that teams can cope better in such situations.

Detailed information given to umpires

The BCCI gave detailed information about this new injury replacement rule in the umpires' workshop going on in Ahmedabad. According to a Cricbuzz report, the board clarified that this rule will only apply to multi-day matches. The decision to replace a player will be taken only after the approval of the on-field umpire and match referee. Under this rule, the player can be replaced only in case of serious injury such as ball hit, fracture, or dislocation, provided the injury is so serious that the player cannot participate further in the match.

Terms and procedure of the rule

Under the new rule, the captains of both the teams will have to submit a list of potential replacement players at the time of toss. It will be ensured that the replacement player is in the same role (such as batsman, bowler, or all-rounder) as the player he is replacing. This will maintain balance and fairness in the game. This move by BCCI is being considered an important step towards increasing the safety of players and the quality of play in domestic cricket.

This new rule not only addresses the concerns related to injury of players, but also ensures that teams remain competitive in unforeseen circumstances. This initiative of BCCI will lead to a more professional approach in domestic cricket, which may also have an impact at the international level in the future.
